Razor Ruddock hurt him a couple of times especially in the first fight. He buckled him with that half uppercut/ half Hook. Bruno caught him with a similar shot in their first fight as well.
Reggie Gross had Tyson a little defensive for a moment , before being clipped himself. Berbick even had Tyson covering up briefly to start their fight, but didn't keep the pressure on. Besided Tyson's six losses, and Tony Tucker and Bonecrusher both landing a big shot once, Tyson has rarely ever been backed up.
Mathis befuddled Tyson for 1 round by bringing the fight to him and operating at close range, but it didn't take Tyson long to solve that Rubik's cube. Ruddock had some success with his smash and aggressive style. Tyson couldn't always load up on his trademark hooks and uppercuts since Ruddock was stepping to him with no fear. Tyson's solution was to hammer away at the body and give Ruddock a reason to back off. Other than that (along with Holyfield and to an extent Lewis) no one really brought the fight to tyson or made him back up. It was simply too risky in most opponent's eyes, and trainers will often stress maintaining whatever reach or height advantage you have (Tyson being on the shorter side naturally had to bring the fight to most opponents). Looking back on his career, more fighters should have at least tried it since he often looked uncomfortable or confused backing up. A fight with Bowe or Foreman would have been very interesting.
Well if you read the opening post two guys that beat him are already named so i assume Douglas is in the mix
But isn't Douglas obvious? or anyone who beat Tyson for that matter? Wouldn't people want to know who put Tyson on the back foot in less well-known fights?
