In the latest IFL interview. I wasn’t able to concentrate fully but it sounds like they linked up around the time of the virus, and it started as a way to tick over but it appears that Jones is his new head trainer. Vasquez has a place in the team if he wants it, though I can’t see Eubank splitting money that many ways, so safe to say we won’t be seeing him again! Also funny that Eubank says he wishes he’d started with Jones when he was 20 rather than 30. This is the same guy who for many years said he didn’t need a trainer! He also mentions something that Hearn said on TalkSport. The only reason that the GGG fight didn’t happen is because once everything was agreed English said he wanted a painting that was on the wall at Matchroom HQ and Bazza told him to **** off. Hilarious if true! What do people think of this link up?
Too little to late, don’t think he will win a world title , probably has one or two entertaining world class fights in his locker. But at 30/31 years of age I can’t see much changing with Roy Jones in charge
His old man had just turned 23 here a few weeks before This content is protected Jr hasn't showed anything like that footwork, jabbing the way in to close gaps or relaxed short punching yet in the 10yrs we've seen the 'kid'
Eubank jr has balls and energy He aint very good at boxing but its a great move for him if he picks up some advice
It’s a good link up. Eubank is a great athlete with incredible speed and he’s linking up with a guy who knew how to use that speed. Notwithstanding the fact that Jones had way more natural boxing talent it’s a great link up. And from the little snippets we’ve been seeing of their training they are working on aspects of his boxing that were poor.
I have never been able to warm to jnr but I often find myself watching that Yildrim KO over and over, such a brutal and badass KO!
One of my favourite KOs. I regularly go back to watch that myself. Not just the actual fight but the build up and ring walks were quality. It gave us this incredible moment as well, absolutely unreal scenes when Ahmet Oner lost the plot. This content is protected
Got to take your hat off to eubank...hes put everything into it over the years regardless if you like him or not. Ultimately tho hes probably just not gonna be good enough at the top level...hes too stiff especially his bottom half...roy jones still looks looser than him in the training video,s at whatever age he is. Interesting tho...roy has lots to pass on. The problem is these guys tend to pass on stuff only they could do at the top level. It usually goes south when guys that aren,t on their level try to execute it. Hopr i,m wrong tho...eubank deserves credit for his career. Work ethnics quality.
The thing is, he's already made money that many "top level" fighters will never make. He's got more out of the business than most fighters of his level would dream of making. We can't begrudge him for fully exploiting his famous name and getting the fans and media behind him. It probably helped him that he seems to have been truly deluded about his place in boxing at times (eg. he said he thought he beat Groves !). I do wonder what so many 'knowledgeable' fans ever saw in him though to have ever considered him a truly world class fighter. He's not that exciting. He's not bad but he was never really good. Domestic level talent.
Quite a few trainers in the uk have said no thanks to him, plus he doesn’t follow out instructions he’s been given in between rounds so not surprised really
I know he went and trained with Booth for a bit but who are the other trainers and where’s the evidence that they said no to him. I find it hard to believe a trainer would turn him down, even with the extra baggage from Senior, because Eubank tends to fight for large purses and often on PPV. Can’t see any trainer turning down a slice of that money.
