I've always thought McCall was very limited. But I agree with WW above and think Floyd should be able to outbox Oliver but could get tagged hard along the way. Edit: Is McCall the only championship fighter with a first name Oliver? That name seems a bit too Old English for me. Always thought that.
It would look akin to the Bonavena fight in my opinion with floyd weaving in an out of harms way with some scares but largely dictating the bout it would be similar although less exciting. I can't imagine Oliver actually able to tag Patterson often enough to make it count he's not aggressive enough and would probably sleep walk the fight as he tended to do relying on his chin and a safe opportunity to land the right hand if Mcall was a pressure fighter of the Futch sort he would have been an unbelievable force honestly the durability the power the stamina was all there...
Floyd should be able to out point the Bull. Maybe a nasty journey along the way, getting dropped by Mccall but I'm hopeful he could do it. Poor Floyd needs the win!
Floyd Patterson took George Chuvalo's best on Feb 1 1965, winning a unanimous decision, and took Oscar Bonavena's best on Feb 14 1972, also taking a unanimous decision. Floyd has speed and skill to beat Oliver McCall, who can hit, just ask Lennox Lewis. Oliver is no Sonny Liston or Ingemar Johannson to kayo Floyd. Floyd by UD.
I suppose it would be possible, but does McCall hit harder than Chuvalo or Bonavena? It entertains a Bonavena vs McCall dream match, though.
