Why Wilder's costume excuse was fantastically stupid.

I have been meaning to do this for months.

As you all recall, Deontay Wilder said that his costume, which he commissioned, weighed over 40 pounds, and, after the ring walk, he was already done due to its excessive weight.

40 pounds is absolutely nothing for an ordinary male of average size and reasonable shape to carry, and a professional athlete of 6'7" should literally be able to carry it from sunup to sundown.

    THIS IS NOT AN OPINION.

For example, a Roman solider's armor and equipment ranged from 66 to over 100 pounds, and he was expected to be able to carry it for twenty miles a day, though desert or over mountains:

    https://www.quora.com/How-far-could-a-Roman-soldier-march-while-wearing-armor

A medieval knight's armor might be even more, and they not only scaled walls in it, but polevaulted over them.

So once again, Wilder is liar and a fraud.

When Fury sees Wilder walking to the ring in skimpy latex he's going to tremble with fear.

Elsewhere it was claimed that Wilder typically trained while wearing a weighted suite. It was something around ~40 lb.

It was a stupid excuse, but whatever. Lots of fighters make stupid excuses: David "my little toe really hurt" Haye.

'Wilder’s excuse has also been dismissed by one of the designers who helped make his suit, Melissa Anglesea, who says they have made even heavier outfits for other fighters who have experienced no ill-effects.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the outfit, which cost roughly $40,000, she said: ‘Let’s be honest, from a man that’s six foot seven and weighs what Wilder does, a three-stone costume makes absolutely no ounce of difference. ‘We’ve made costumes for heavyweight fighters, including Dillian Whyte, that are super-heavy because we’ve used 30,000 crystals, but he knocked Dereck Chisora out.’

First, that robe Dillian Whyte wore for the Chisora rematch did NOT weight three stone (42 pounds).

Sorry, I'm calling bull **** on that.

Second, Wilder doesn't weigh 271 pounds, like Whyte weighed for his last fight.

Forty-two pound costumes are too much to walk around in for 20 minutes before stepping in the ring ... for anyone. She's high.

And even if Wilder claimed to train in heavy vests, he certainly didn't remove them AND THEN immediately fight a 270-pound man.

I love watching Wilder fight. And he clearly needs better people helping him prepare for fights because his team just seems to make it up as they go and wait for him to score a ko.

But a costume maker who says a 42-pound costume should be NO PROBLEM for someone to walk around in for 20 minutes before a fight is just a clown. And she won't be working with fighters anymore. They don't take 42 pound costumes off ... and then take a break.

The fight starts when they take it off.

You continue to be the biggest idiot on this site.

You did not even read the premise statement. A 40-45 pound costume should be nothing to a 6'7" professional athlete, especially if distributed over the body in a proper costume. Wilder is a liar, and you are a moron twice, once for believing it, and again by refusing to be educated by the example I provided.

    Double chin, and no brain.

When was the last time you saw anyone carry 45 pounds around for 20 minutes BEFORE competing in an athletic event OF ANY KIND, let alone something as draining as boxing?

    Of couse it means something.

And, as far as the name-calling goes, go **** yourself ****. All you do is insult people on this site. You don't know **** about boxing or, apparently, much else.

Yeah that would mean something if it had any substance. What because I can actually have a discussion like an adult and take on board what someone has to say now and then rather than being a delusional t#at all the time. But have fun jacking off over wider later we all know you do

Everybody here likes boxing. Nobody on this board is jacking off to any fighters, but that seems to be predominently on your mind. So keep it to yourself. Nobody wants to hear that ****. I don't recall ever speaking to you before, and that's the first **** that you say to me?

    **** off. You're on ignore.

It is no weight, idiot. None. Since you did not read it the first time, the Roman army used to field sometimes 100,000 men, each of whom could carry armor and kit weighing 100 pounds for 20 miles a day.

When distributed over the body, even 80 pounds isn't that much for even an average man.

    What a dumb ass.
