Some would think Jose Luis Castillo 1 or Marcos Maidana 1 the man himself said it was Emmanuel Augustus formerly Emmanuel Burton.

    what do you think?

Floyd’s toughest fight was against Emanuel Augustus

DLH, Maidana, Pacquiao, Castillo, Alvarez, Cotto, Hatton and Augustus were all tough fights.

We are saying which one was the toughest? The man himself says Augustus was. Personally I don’t consider Hatton, De La Hoya, Pacquiao and Alvarez tough fights. Cotto was a tough fight as was Castillo and Maidana. Hatton was an ass kicking as Alvarez was a schooling. De La Hoya and Pacquiao were competitive fights he won comfortably.

Probably would have been Tyson Fury as I am told no man born of his mother can defeat the Gypsy King.

I’ll have to disagree. Hatton doesn’t seem to get any credit anymore for unknown reasons to me. He was giving Mayweather a serious challenge before being slowed and broken down by Mayweather’s counters. Pacquiao was also a closer fight, it wasn’t an extremely difficult one, but it wasn’t easy either. De La Hoya was an extremely tough and close fight. Mayweather’s face after that fight says it all. Alvarez was a decent fight at best, perhaps calling it tough was overboard on my part.

If I have to pick one, I’ll have to pick the De La Hoya fight.

Good response Scar. I have watched the Hatton fight over 100 times yes Hatton is a tough competitor but it was not a tough fight for Mayweather. Hatton brought his endeavor but as much as I like Hatton relative skills wise he was deficient against Floyd in that he would have needed the skills level of Roberto Duran. De La Hoya was a competitive fight but it was not that tough. What made it competitive was fighting at a higher weight when essentially at the time Floyd was a 140 pound fighter not really a welterweight who had to fight De La Hoya at 154 who chose the big gloves and ring size. Had they fought at 147 in 8 ounce gloves I am certain Floyd would have stopped him as he was so much sharper People talk about Oscar’s jab but the truth is during the course Floyd adapted and took it away. To be honest Floyd made the Canelo fight easy. I honestly found it difficult to score a round for Canelo. Please try and watch the Emmanuel Augustus fight and let me know what you think.

Great response, but I still have to disagree. I thought DLH was an extremely tough fight and the result was 50/50. Hatton did get destroyed, but he made Mayweather work for the result. Every round Hatton was still fighting back and landing his own whenever he could. I have seen the Augustus fight and I agree it was a very tough fight. Better examples, in my opinion, of truly easy fights for Mayweather would be Gatti(Rest in Peace), Judah, Ortiz...etc.

I've never actually seen the Augustus fight so can't comment.

Castillo clearly has a claim to have won so that was tough.

Cotto was certainly a tough fight and De La Hoya was a huge test against a big man.

Maidana 1 wasn't easy although I think it was more Floyd ageing and underestimating Marcos.

Hatton gave him a good test up until about round 8 where he took a pasting onwards.

Pacquiao wasn't a hard night for Floyd nor was Canelo.

I think Judah presented a stylistic challenge for the first 4 rounds but typical Zab would lose his way during a fight. I personally scored the De La Hoya fight 116-112 for Floyd. Yes Hatton made him work for the victory but it showed Floyd at his best. As for Arturo Gatti fight ( May his soul Rest In Peace) it looked a bit like an execution before an after style wise.

Then please explain why Floyd landed his lowest connect percentage ever on the ear war torn Pacquiao, the much smaller man, and clinched the most he's ever (over 20). Pacquiao came forward all night and isn't difficult to find.

Floyd said Pacquiao was the hardest he'd ever been hit. Make no mistake, Floyd boxed the most cautious fight of his life whereas he went toe-to-toe and walked down Clenelo, Maidana, Ortiz, Berto, Guerrero, and Cotto.

I see some clown is making false claims that Floyd said Pacquiao was the hardest he had been hit. BS clearly it was Mosley.
