I take a 40+ year old Holmes over a 40+ year old Holyfield if they were to fight Larry beat prime undefeated Mercer after Tyson obliterated him. Evanders best win after Lewis struggled with him is - Going 1-2-0 against Ruiz Headbutt decision over past prime Rahman
Wilder's 2 best wins are over Luis Ortiz, who was actually OLDER than the version of Larry Holmes that Tyson has beaten. Not to mention that Luis Ortiz' career best wins are Bryant Jennings and Christiam Hammer while Holmes even 4 years after losing to Tyson has beaten prime Ray Mercer and 7+ years after losing to Tyson lost by razor-close decision to a prime Oliver McCalll who just knocked out Lennox Lewis in two rounds.
He gets credit for beating Holmes, just not for beating a "great" Holmes. A decidedly sub-great version of Holmes.
He was definitely entertaining. Some overrate him and some of thise fans take it too far. Some actually underrate too. Bottom line, he was a great fighter. Yes, great. He's not a top 5 all-time HW but he'd give the top 5 hell for at least 4 or 5 rounds. He went 37-0 (33) overall, 10-0 (8) in HW World title fights, and 2-0 (2) vs. Hall of Famers prior to his first pro loss. Who did he beat during this stretch? Hall of famers Holmes KO4 and M. Spinks KO1. He beat world title holders Ratliff, Berbick, Smith, Page, Tucker, Tubbs, and Bruno. He also beat Ferguson, Tillis, Green, Ribalta, Biggs, C. Williams and others. After his loss to Douglas he won 2 more HW world title fights and beat the likes of Stewart, Ruddock x2, Mathis, Bruno (again), Seldon, Botha, Savarese, Nielsen, Etienne, and others. He beat up Golota and O. Norris too but those fights go down as no-contests. Wilder beat Ortiz twice, got a gift draw vs. a rusty Fury, and was dkmjnated and stopped vs. Fury in a rematch. Sure, he beat Stiverne twice, Liakhovich, Molina, Arreola, Washington, Breazele and others as well. Tyson's resume is much better.
Ali was slipping by 75, Tyson would have destroyed Ali and Frazier in 76, they were both on the way out, Foreman had been beaten by Ali by then and then got beat by Jimmy Young who Mike would have destroyed.
He`s jealous because Tyson is iconic and was more famous than Wilder could ever be, he`s delusional, Wilder stays on the center line after punching, Tyson would have KO`d him with counters.
Wilder is my favorite fighter, I hate his personality but I find him so entertaining, I feel grateful. he is so out of touch its beautiful.
Yeah but a good win can be determined by what a guy does after the loss. Lewis win over Hollafeld is only marginally better than Tysons wins over Larry.
Clearly, Tyson Fury will be a Hall of Famer. Wilder will be fighting him for the third time this year. He dropped Fury twice and has a draw with him. Wilder's career isn't over yet. Mike Tyson's is.
Whilst i agree, he isnt in there today Wilders deluded and needs to concentrate on his rematch If he loses that then he is in no mans land He isnt fit to even lace prime Tysons boots who took the World by storm
Sure he is. Tyson took the world by storm because, when he arrived, everyone was pretty ordinary and, as a result, the title changed hands every time someone got in the ring. Tyson beat them all and put a stop to that. I've always liked Tyson as a fighter. I like Wilder, too. Wilder was a fine champion in his own right (five years as WBC champ and 10 successful title defenses). He could be the World Champion later this year. Tyson's career is over.
