Toney was at his best at 168 except for the Jones. I can see your point that Froch might beat a version of Toney that was not fully dedicated. But then again I just see little sense in matching fighters in these mytical matcup when not at their best.

Calzaghe was far more skilled than Froch.

Leonard was very unimpressive at super middle, he was punched all over the place by Hearns but his power helped him to fight back, his power saved him v a light heavy Lalonde after being out-boxed early in that fight, he looked far better at 160 v Hagler in `87.

For example, based on talent and how he was at MW, SMW and CW you'd assume Toney would also be a great LHW, but when you see how he wasted his time there and looked like crap, you would struggle arguing him over any LHW even though peak for peak he'll beat a heck of a lot of LHW greats.

More skilled doesn't always equate to better.

Calzaghe adapted better to fighters, Ward completely out-classed Froch, he was very limited.

Ward is better than Froch I agree there.

I don't see how Froch is gonna beat Calzaghe, he's not stopping him and he's CERTAINLY not outboxing or outworking him.

If you followed toneys career you would know why he performed the way he did in those fights. He was bloating up 50 pounds in between bouts and didn't take lesser competition seriously. Never have I seen him "outworked" by anyone for any reason other than his own lethargy. Guarantee that would not happen against froch

That's exactly the point I've made. If he turned up in that kind of shape against Froch he loses.

If he turns up at his best he wins.

With Toney you can't guarantee anything and anyone who followed his career would know as much.

That’s fine. But saying that you’d have favoured Carl over them and saying that they’d have had no chance of beating him, are 2 very different statements to make.

Toney went through the motions when he was fighting every month.

I’d have to assume that he’d have respected Carl in a big title fight at SMW. I think he’d have been motivated and switched on. Especially as there’d have been fireworks in the build up.

Anyone can beat anyone. I wouldn't favour those two to beat Carl.
