Khan was able to force a stoppage against Paulie but other than that doesn't have stoppage at 147 against anyone who was a threat.
Floyd KO'd Hatton, Ortiz and Forced stoppages against the likes of Gatti at the lower weights....
They have similar KO numbers but Floyd has fought way higher opposition rather than fighting Lo Greco or Sammy Vargas.
Good fighter Khan - World class around the Maidana fight - but he was never in that next echelon above

Difficult for a time sure early doors but after Khans initial speed wears off, he's floyds for the taking.
and why do we think Canelo was cautious? Cause he got beat up with hard, clean fast shots anytime he tried to force it.

The issue with your assessment is that lesser fighters have gotten Khan's timing. And by lesser, I mean guys who aren't as fast, don't have the ring IQ, footwork of someone like Mayweather.

Also, Khan always started his combinations the same way... Floyd would know that coming into the fight and adjust to it in the first round. You're not beating Floyd that way and Khan never made adjustments which would also play right into Floyd's hands.

    It's a total mismatch.

I was assuming that we were talking about if this fight had happened at WW around the Maidana fight. That’s when it was talked about. Didn’t Floyd do a public poll?

We all know that Floyd is an ATG and levels above Khan. That goes without saying. But at that specific moment in time, I think Khan would have given him problems. Although Khan was a heavily flawed fighter, he was big, strong and fast, and he had a lot of confidence. He did very well against Canelo in the early rounds until he was caught with that great power shot.

Floyd knocked out Hatton 7 years earlier than when he fought Maidana. And we can’t really put forward his knockout of Ortiz as an example.

Towards the end of his career, Floyd was a safety first fighter who had hand issues.

Khan would have given him something to think about in and around 2014.

Yes, Canelo was terrified of getting countered.

    He was overly cautious.

I know he’s a counterpuncher, but he showed him far too much respect. He should have pressured Floyd a lot more. Oscar and Maidana picked up points by applying pressure when he was on the ropes and in the corners.

Canelo, Floyd and Khan have all got completely different styles and attributes.

My initial point, was in response to you saying that Khan couldn’t have walked Floyd down because Canelo couldn’t. But again, Canelo didn’t even try to walk him down, and Khan was faster with a longer reach. And in my honest opinion, he’d have been more confident and pressed him more.

That’s the beauty of boxing. Styles make fights. Canelo iced Khan. Floyd easily beat Canelo. But Khan could have caused Floyd more problems than what Canelo did.

Canelo is levels above Maidana. But Maidana gave Floyd a much tougher fight.

Floyd didn’t want to be facing a guy like Khan at that point in his career.

There’s a reason he bowed out against Andre Berto.

Prime for prime, is a different argument altogether. But in 2014, Khan would have been problematic.

It wouldn’t have been a total mismatch in 2014.

If Floyd hadn’t have fought Maidana and I made a fantasy fight thread on here, almost everybody would have said that Maidana would have been lucky to have won a round.

Mayweather knocked Hatton out and Hatton would have knocked Khan out, all he had was speed and no fundamentals.

Floyd was levels above any version of Amir Khan. But in 2014, towards the end of Floyd’s career where Floyd put up his online poll, Khan would have caused Floyd problems.

Mayweather`s footwork was smarter than Khan`s.

I dislike Khan on a massive level, but he would absolutely make Floyd work hard for the win. People forget. He was lighting Clenelo up and schooling him for 5-6 rounds until Clenelo landed a roided nuke.

And since these breakdowns, Khan has been "outboxed" by Crawford and bambi legged
    by the unheralded Sammy Vargas.

    Total mismatch.

Because Khan is a level(s) below the top of the sport. I give him credit for elevating himself into the conversation with his mouth.

It would have been entertaining for the first half then Floyd takes over.

Not in 2014 when Floyd was winding down his career.
