They’re just casuals who don’t know anything. Nobody knowledgeable saw him as a legit world champion.
I never took Fielding seriously after the Smith fight, absolutely awful. His performance against Alvarez was truly embarrassing, the biggest fight of his life and an opportunity he'll never get again and he just looked pleased to be there. He had nothing to lose and everything to gain, even a defeat via a valiant effort would have gained him a lot of respect. I was so angry watching that fight.
To be fair, even Rocky himself was about as realistic about his level as one could reasonably expect from a professional fighter.
Haha, I think anyone with the ability that Fielding has would have at least had a go and gone out on their shield, he had a go in Germany and won a belt.
