Your most "hated" person in boxing in your time watching the sport

For me, it’s sky sports Adam Smith. Never been in a boxing ring in his life. He looks like a perv and he is biased towards anyone who is sky sports affiliated.

 

There are people in boxing - boxers, non-boxers - who've done some pretty despicable things and are easy to hate. Panama Lewis, James Butler, various Hiltons, Tony Ayala, Ike Ibeabuchi, etc...

But my real hatred and frustration lies at the feet of the powers-that-be. King, Arum, Suliman, Mendoza, Bob Lee... Boxing could be so much better if it weren't run by buffoons.

 

Every person who was complicit in denying black fighters title shots for much of the first 60+ years of the sport.

 

Like people have said already, hate is a strong word but I dislike fighters who act like assholes during the promotion of a fight to 'hype' it. Maybe it does sell tickets, but it also costs them their dignity.

 

If your gonna use hand wraps for Trinidad you’ve got to use them for De La Hoya. He got “caught” doing the exact same thing against Wilfredo Rivera.

 

The promoter? What do you mean? He wrapped Rivera hands instead of the coach or what? That's crazy.

 

De La Hoya got “caught” doing the same wrap Tito did.

 

I agree, Promoters are there to promote, but I also agree that fighters should have Dignity and not degrade themselves acting idiotic.

 

But it is priceless when an obnoxious, trash talking loudmouth comes undone eg Broner-Maidaina, Judah-Tszyu, Hamed-Barrera and even Thurman-Pacquiao to a lesser extent.

 

Well like RIchard say, promters there to promptote, I donno what he was doing wrapping nobody's hands if that's what he was doin that was f'd up and he should be held accountable and go to jail. He seem to get off on doin everything like the coke and some of that other stuff where he got cused of doin it to a woman didn't want it so I donno. He real shady. But that still surprise me even tho I don't like him but like why's he even doin that in the first place?

 

And Oscar was wearing those Fishnets, he is really ridiculous, my friend.

 

yeah i don get that either cuz like that wasn't like a gay dude but a straight woman who wanted the dude to dress like a woman like a straight woman but like if my mama asked my daddy to dress like my mama it'd be like that was her askin him to dress like herself and he'd have been like ima father not a mother let's keep this story str8, woman.

 

He must have taught that to Tyson when training him in the amateurs.

 

Larry Holmes was pretty disliked for his comments about the late Marciano, very insensitive, a very bitter man.

 

I rember reading an article about Ray Leonard in the ring magazine shorrtly after Douglas v Tyson and how he was booed by the crowd, the article was titled the most mis-understood man in boxing, it was pointed out that he was hated for being the flashy fighter that won a controversial points verdict over the blue collar fighter Hagler and that made him unpopular and ow his comebacks were irritating fans and how he no longer had the cocky kid charm he had in the 70`s-early 80`s and was a smug lawyer like speaker in the 90`s. Eubank Sr was also hated around this time after beating the popular Benn and acting arrogant before their fight etc.
