People at the time felt inquisitive whether Tyson could land a lucky punch like Rahman but the longer the fight went on there was only one clear Victor. Lewis had actually been fighting top opposition at the time whereas Tyson was not really fighting serious opponents and as the fight went on it became very clear the Lack of quality in Tyson's recent opponents was showing in the fight

I said it years ago and still think this might be a factor too it.

Tyson was under medications at that periods for mental health concerns, going mad, public outburst, Robin Givins and all...

I said he looked sedatited in that fight, not literally, but the effects of prolonged medications during that period and after it. it wasn't Iron Mike in there that night.

At the time, yes. But in retrospect, if I knew what I know now, no way on God's green earth would I have picked Tyson outside of a lucky punch.

Vitali Klitchsko said it was always his dream to fight Mike Tyson. That's why he pummeled Danny Williams so hard because Williams ruined his dream. You think Vitali would have beaten Mike Tyson if they fought?

He didn't loo too sedated at the presser when he stormed over at Lewis and in the end took a chomp on his leg -

You can watch the full broadcast. Many Americans were picking him.

No, the spirit may have been willing but the flesh gave up after the first round.
To beat a focused Lennox, you would have to be totally fit and able to get past that huge Jab. And be able to absorb some tremendous power shots.

    They were all wishful thinking.
As much as I think prime Tyson
    knocks out Lewis early, I
also knew the version of Tyson
    Lewis fought had absolutely no
    chance of beating him. Tyson
was fighting on memory as early
    as the Holyfield fights.
By the time he fought Lewis he
    was worse.
    Plus all the mental meltdowns
he was going through it was a
recipe for disaster and a bad loss.
    And it was for him.

I was pretty sure Lewis would win easily.

At the time, Lewis was the favourite but Tyson was seen as a very live dog due to the Lewis chin

One thing cannot be disputed. The way Tyson sold the fight was masterful, most ex boxers, boxing fans and experts knew he was shot as a fighter but his press conference behavior and pre fight antics made people get some semblance of belief "Maybe he can land that one big bomb"

It was a stylistic mismatch. He had lost the ability to fight taller, bigger guys at this point who could easily fight him from range and drag him into the later rounds. The fights against Danny Williams and Kevin Mcbride showed it.

Yea while that is true I think Tyson had that classic punchers chance because of his early round onslaught and Lennox chin being not iron.
It was a $ grab for Mike. He threw all his big shots for about a round and a half.

IDK if he was selling or trying to get out of it. He bit Lewis on the leg.
