Also claimed to have had something like 1000 fights without defeat. Frank Warren, his promoter, said it was more like 15-20 fights and he lost at least five of those. McLean reminds me of Richard Kuklinski, the so-called Iceman who claimed he was a hitman for the Mafia who killed hundreds of people when in reality he was just a low level porn and drug dealer who bumped off a few of his associates.

    Cliff Field?

I’m not sure he could beat Cliff Richard.

He might have had a chance with Bob Fosse!

Lenny was a bully full stop. His stepfather played a huge part in that mind. Loved his autobio and would definitely recommend.

But Lenny outweighed Foster by 100 pounds. All he'd have to do is pressure him like Joe Frazier did and land a left hook to the body and another to the head.

When somebody writes a hard man biography, you need to treat it with extreme suspicion.

    It is basically an industry!

Lenny was a bruiser, not a professional.

There's a vast difference between a tough guy and world champion. Not only do many boxers start as children but, crucially, they learn to fight without anger. 'The Guvnor' didn't master the first step. He knew how to get leverage into his shots, pick the odd good one, but so much was missing.

Compared to Ali he was in elementary.

Many top heavies would have taken Lenny out and thought little of it.

Yes some one like Joe Hipp would be "King Of The Hill," on the streets.

    Have you watched Lenny fight?

He was completely devoid of any style whatsoever. Foster would hammer him without breaking a sweat.
