Not sure honestly. Grant was limited in skill but he could punch. Akinwande wasn’t too powerful but he was durable. Both guys were physically huge. I’ll vote for Grant but again I don’t know

An this is a question… Akinwande easily. McCline who wasn't a good puncher destroyed the prime Grant in the first round. Honorable mention Akinwande did better against Lewis.
Akinwande beat far better opposition and actually won a world title, he’s more proven at world level, akinwande late stoppage or on points

No, you dont know what you're talking about. Tucker in 95 was washed up and coming off a loss to Bruce Seldon. Golota was top ten rated Grant beat him. Izon was also better. Savarese, Purrity, and Al Cole were all around 95 Tucker's level too. Akinwande's best wins are Zolkin and Schultz. WBO wasn't a major belt when Akinwande held it. And he got it as a vacant belt after beating Jeremy Williams. Meant little or other nothing. Grant was rated third at heavyweight at one point, behind Lewis and Holyfield. Akinwande never was rated that highly.

Saying "decent heart" is splitting the difference. He was guttier than hell before Lewis, the Golota fight, for example. But Lewis took his soul and McCline talked about how he was visibly shaking before their fight. Anyway, I take Akinwande in an extremely boring fight after you hold his beer. Grant's power was a little oversold.

Two fights earlier, Glenn instructed McCline to hit Michael Grant with a left hook as soon as their HBO bout began because Glenn noticed Grant’s legs shaking from nervousness just before their fight started. McCline’s left hook knocked down Grant just three seconds into their bout and caused him to land awkwardly on his right ankle, an injury that led to McCline winning by first-round technical knockout.
