Jack Delaney over Roy Jones Jr, Bob Foster, and Joey Maxim. Now I know why you consider yourself a forum troll...

Johnson over Saad, struggling with that.

Charles beat Moore 3 times out of 3 in his prime along with a helluva list of other superb light heavyweights. After he matured physically (after the lost war years) he was never beat at the weight and beat heavyweights while under 175 to boot. The only fight he lost while weighing under 175 was to heavyweight contender Elmer Ray (third best heavyweight on the planet per the Ring) via split decision that could have went either way. Charles fought him again 10 months later weighing bang on 175 pounds and knocked him out, the third best heavy in the world.

It's scary how good Ezzard was at 175.

Good post. Charles was the greatest ever at this weight IMO. I wish we had more tapes of this, particularly the Moore encounters.

Didn't give a list when I commented earlier, after a little thought I'll have a go.

    1) Charles 2) Moore 3) Spinks 4) Tunney 5) Foster 6) Jones Jr 7) Greb 8) Loughran 9) Rosenbloom 10) Lewis

Sometimes I omit rating Greb as a 175 pounder, but chose not to cop out this time - which means a personal favourite of mine who I often have just breaching the top ten, Harold Johnson, has to miss out. Sorry Harold. Conn and Bivins are another two very near misses.

When you list their top 5 wins and put them next to Delaney's, it becomes abundantly clear.
What looks like trolling to you is just an informed opinion. That's why you make yourself look like an idiot whenever you post, sunshine.

    Good list.

How much is h2h a factor on your list? I rate Conn pretty high because h2h, i think he does well vs my top 10. Rosenbloom and JHL are guys i have never seen, so even though their accomplishments are stunning, its hard to rank them.

Of course it doesn't mean they don't deserve to be ranked. Of course they do. I just have a hard time placing them anywhere due to difficulty in assessing how they could fare vs the other top guys like Charles, Spinks, Foster, Jones Jr. etc.

I am a little surprised by Greb over Tunney. Is it because Greb beat better competition at 175lbs? I think Tunney dominated him.

Thanks for saying so. I do consider head-to-head potential but it tends to be the least important of the major factors for me when I put together an all-time divisional list like this, simply because it gives everyone a fair(er) crack of the whip and it's a bit easier to deal in pure fact rather than hypotheticals. Achievements at the weight and who each man beat (and lost to) there, particularly at world championship level (if applicable) are my really significant criteria. Then comes head-to-head.

Some guys like Conn could and probably would have been so much higher if they didn’t chase heavyweight money. Bivins is another who’d be much higher had he stuck around longer.

It's because based on everything I've read Greb got the better of the rivalry.
