Just last night I was in my barn hidden in the dark of the loft hunting coyotes with my Remington. I bagged 13 in 5 hrs from 10 until 3am. Sleep is for the weak and feeble. Old range riders get a good 5 winks then set out to make the day great.
Ok, let me try this once more. I may sound like I "know everything" bcuz I'm around a bunch of know-nothings on the sport (on the forum), and I'm used to TELLING everyone everything. I hope u don't think I'm the authority on boxing and that i get mad when other peoples' opinions are different, cuz I don't. I expect a difference in opinions. If people disagree, that's fine, but if they can't stay cool, they should get the heck outta here. There is no authority on boxing, that's why the forum has 80 members. Hope that clears things up.
Most of the fights I would have listed have already been mentioned but another one that comes to mind is Charles Brewer Vs Anrwun Echols. That fight was a war that was unfortunately ruined by a bad stoppage from an overzealous referee. It was a fun and backhand forth affair while it lasted.
Benn vs Watson Jackson vs Graham Taylor vs Pavlik Hearns vs Roldan McCrory vs Aquino Kaylor vs Christie St Juste vs Lafreniere Geale vs Barker Duddy vs Campas Lausse vs Pigou
Got to agree with Morlocks on this one (Which is unusual) But years before the internet and of course Box rec The Zale vs Graziano fights were legendary for there viciousness and were regarded as some of the greatest middleweight wars in history. I've read this from multiple sources since the late 70's .
Frankly, I'd sacrifice fight footage of Greb in a heartbeat for either one of those fights. They'd probably be no. 1 and no. 2 if the film existed.
It sounds like an overstatement but I've wanted to see those fights for nearly 30 years and I haven't been interested in Greb as long as that.
Every story I read about those two said they had a genuine dislike for each other, and fought like it. Factor in both had that go forward and destroy style. One had a destructive left hook (Zale) the other had dynamite in his right hand (Graziano) both allegedly controlled by or had connections to the mob. Must have been one heck of a atmosphere.
Many have been mentioned. I've always been partial to Hearns-Barkley I. Hearns looked great early on and had turned Barkley into a bloody mess in the first two-and-a-half rounds, then Barkley turned the tables. I never thought Duran-Barkley was that great. It was exciting to see Duran look good in a fight (it had been a while), and everyone was happy he won. Even the announcers were trying to give him a 10-7 round for the knockdown, because they knew he was down. I seem to recall I had Barkley winning that one, too. (I haven't seen it forever.) In the early 2000s, Willie Gibbs, Daniel Edouard, Kelly Pavlik, Edison Miranda staged some quality middleweight fights on the way up. Any fights between them were pretty good. Willie Gibbs vs. Daniel Edouard was a great fight. Pavlik and Miranda fought. Pavlik's first fight with Jermain Taylor was epic. Even the first Edison Miranda-Arthur Abraham fight was pretty good and controversial. Lots out there.
