Title defense, Max instead of Louis. Do you think that Schmeling would have stopped Cindrella Man?

I dunno. I know since Schemling had recently beat Louis he was in line for Braddock. It's certainly much more possible that Braddock would've retained the title. I really can't say. I do slightly favor Schmeling, but a draw wouldn't be outrageous.

What makes you believe that Braddock could beat Schmeling?

Well, he was very tough and crafty, seemed like a good boxer.

I'd have to pick Max by UD something like 9-6 in a good fight

He was, but better than Schmeling? Max beat better boxers than Braddock.

It would be very interesting to see if Schmeling would stop Braddock. It's a fight I'd have love to have seen. No question of the winner IMO, it's Schmeling 9/10 but Braddock was tough as the proverbial old boots and my guess is he had the accuracy to keep the German honest.

10-5Ish with no KDs is my guess.

Schmeling probably stops him at some point, late in the fight.

I never said he was better than Schmeling. I would make Schmeling like a 7 to 5 fave.

Schmeling was better than Braddock, though Braddock was pretty durable so I'm not sure he'd get stopped. Schmeling on points.

Would a draw be outrageous to anybody? Braddock was known for his furious finishes.

We would have to favor Schmeling, perhaps strongly, but we can't treat it as a done deal!

I totally agree. Braddock's not the kind of guy to get knocked down and it's over. Think again.

Then again, Schmeling was very patient against durable fighters!

Usually I am against stoppages in hypotetical fights when on one side you have someone as durable as Braddock, but on the other hand Schmeling stopped quite a few durable fighters.
