The correct pronouniation of the first two words of your post is “These boots” since we’re in Canada.

I don't know what hoser means, but if it's good, I'm it.

It was a great title fight on Sept 22 1973, it went the distance and Clyde Gray was game in that nationally televised bout, Gray lost by unanimous decision. Gray made Jose Mantequilla Napoles work for that victory.

It was, but your definition of good fights differs from mine, I watched those fights on live television years ago, on ABC's Wide World Of Sports. I thought it was a good fight, back when the fighters were men and not crying over the purses. What s your definition of a great fight? and what match was it?

Most of the best ones have been taken already but I would add Diaconu vs Pascal I. That was a damn good fight that was in Montreal.

Indeed, though Gray acquitted himself very well in the fight.

Gray's two fight series with Chris Clarke were both fun to watch.

Wonder what’s the best/more important/biggest Canadian vs. Canadian (pro) fight held on Canadian soil.

I imagine Clyde Gray vs. Fernand Marcotte — Gray’s first outing since losing to Napoles, like three months later — would be a big one I’d think. But surely not the biggest.

Trevor Berbick vs. Gord Racette (20-2-1 Trevor, 29-1 Racette) for the Canadian heavyweight title probably seemed big (to Canadians) at the time.

Too bad Trevor didn’t fight Razor Ruddock.

    Any ideas?

On reflection prob not, still it was a great champion showing his skills against a fairly live contender no ? also while your being a bit pedantic, the title was " Best " not greatest go read again, while we are at it, thought it would have been a better fight than a Joe Gans one round KO, and maybe even a better fight than some of the others on Senya13 list as we have not seen them, fair ?

    * Already mentioned this, but Gray's fights with Clarke were both big events in Halifax, N.S.. Classic crossroads matches between an aging, experienced contender versus a rising, undefeated fighter.

    * Frenchy Belanger's two fight series with Steve Rocco had a similar dynamic back in the 30's, though Belanger was actually a former world champ.

You have to love the simplicity of Wayne vs. Rat's Ass at the end of the lane.

But there was certainly a lot of excitement surrounding the Wayne vs. Chest Puffer bout on the property.
