And those weren't very impressive performances- Froch would do much better tah guys who weren't even ranked at the weight.
And guess what? Unknown prospects become household names with a break out victory. What is your point exactly?
No both Pascal and Groves had strong arguments for being the number 1 fighter in the division after Froch had beaten them. Same could also be said for Arthur Abraham as well.
No one really thinks Froch has a weak resume and Watson is the best H2H fighter. It's someone who is just trying to troll.
1. Calzaghe 2. Ward 3. Froch 4. Eubank 5. Benn 6. Jones jnr 7. Kessler 8. Collins 9. Park 10. Otke A few points here. Calzaghe & Ward are 1 & 2 for me and I don’t really mind what order, similar to how I see Louis and Ali at HW I’ve been a bit of a detractor if Froch, I find him tedious to listen to, but his record and string of tough opponents is hard to deny, if you’re not super biased against modern day boxing and respect what fighters did in their own eras he deserves his spot in the top 5, maybe top 7 at a stretch if you rank more on H2H. Eubank & Benn both have good resumes at SMW, I think Eubank has a better depth at the weight, however their ‘draw’ for me was a close fight. I know it seems like folk lore that Benn should have won, but I only gave it to Benn by a round and think it could have gone either way. Part of me doesn’t want to put Jones that low, but I don’t rank massively on H2H, so I’m more focused on the names he could have fought, compared to who he did. Realistically he has dominant wins over Malinga, Thomas Tate, Toney and a well past it Vinny Paz that’s about it. That’s the exact same reason Toney misses out on the top 10, his resume simply doesn’t deserve it.
The problem is, H2H is my main criteria. He didn't beat a slew of greats at SMW, but as a fighter at SMW, combined with the men he has beaten in other classes, I struggle to see many SMW fighters beating him on his best day.
Dude, you sound young. Watson that night looked unbeatable, and the night and performance should be celebrated rather than hidden because of the outcome. He comprehensively beat up Chris Eubank at his very best in every minute of every round, that's beyond Jones potshotting a shell of Toney and Calzaghe teeing off on a punch bag Lacy. That's insane. It took a genuine miracle to stop him in his tracks. It's inhuman. Anyway, Pascal and Dirrell were basketball players, athletes. They aren't all that. And Abraham was a sitting duck in there with short limbs and flat feet - Groves and even Eubank Jr were just as dominant. Groves more dominant against Johnson, who was a middleweight from the 90s, than Froch was. Calzaghe beat a peak Kessler 8-4, Froch lost to a semi-shot Kessler 8-4. It is what it is. It's not a weak resume as such, just nothing amazing and he was bashed up and made to hit mostly air most nights.
But it didn't take a miracle. It took Eubank. And Eubank beat him. You are just trolling, we get that now.
Not according to Eubank. It was supernatural, both Watson's performance and Eubank's uppercut, according to Eubank himself and I agree. If you watch the fight, and know what you're looking at, you'll see.
