He was 34. I wouldn’t have commented on Pimp C’s comment, as it seemed like an honest mistake, but now you’re agreeing with it. 34. Just saying.

There are arguements for Floyd winning, but no-one has made them... these two fanboys just ride his nuts and regurgitate the things they've convinced themselves of over the years.

No-one here is saying that De La Hoya whitewashes Floyd; his over-reliance on his left hand and tendancy to only fight a minute and a half per round means that's not gonna happen. Floyd is probably gonna try and time his jab with right hands, whilst using lateral movement to keep Oscar guessing. But a prime Floyd couldn't do this all too well vs a borderline shot Oscar.

Oscar's long, fast jab, iron chin, collosal size advantage and educated pressure spells bad news for Floyd. Especially the one at 140, who's prone to trading punches more.

You don’t see it because presumably you must be blind! It’s not about being a fan boy or hater etc. I don’t like Oscar de La Hoya never have never will. I have always admitted he is a good boxer but he is not as good as his fanboys would have you believe that is a fact. Oscar’s style does not trouble Floyd because Oscar is a basic good fighter straight up and down with no special effects.

33 or 34 big deal. Floyd was kicking Canelo’s arse at 36 not making excuses that he was past his best.

Absolutely not. There's no-way he was better there than he was in 96/97.

At 140 pounds Floyd gives Oscar a worse beating that’s for sure. Oscar will be playing goal keeper with his face and so called iron chin which has been decked a few times. Educated pressure my backside wailing away at Floyd arms is uneducated when he is hitting Oscar accurately making him miss and making him pay. We saw how Floyd took away Oscar’s jab. Oscar has a lot of weakness especially against fast fighters even Steve Forbes ****ed him up a bit.

Oscar cant beat pbf prime for prime for one simple reason. He's really a one handed fighter his two best punches are his jab and his left hook he doesn't have a wide variety of punches in his arsenal, he's too easy to disect. Pbf took oscar's jab away in that fight by being first and countering oscars jab. He didnt just stop throwing it thats nonsense. It's arguably his best weapon he didnt just stop throwing it try telling that to someone else because i know better. Pbf also knew how to avoid the left hook by moving away from it taking away his power hand after he did that oscar was done what do you have? A one handed guy with **** stamina in against a master good luck. I'm sorry thst's not gonna cut it. Pbf is a bad match up for oscar he's not gonna outbox him he's not going to knock him out how does he win? Pbf does what he does to everyone take away their best weapon undressing them and outboxes them.:deal:

Hey, I don’t have a horse in the race. It makes no odds to me.

On to the subject at hand anyway. Both were great fighters in their prime. Floyd’s style aged like a fine wine, there’s no denying that. Some fighters age better than others because of both their physical condition and, as mentioned, their styles. Who’d win in their primes at 140? I’d probably favour the bigger man, but I’m not confident.

He lost more of his big fights than he won and had close fights which alot of people thought he lost a faded pea whitaker clowned and dropped oscar and the ike quartey fight. His fight with strum is debated as well. He probably did enough to beat Tito but failed to engage the last 4 rounds and most thought he beat mosely in the rematch. He was a media darling that was good for boxing at the end of the day.

All that and he can give him one of the hardest fights of Floyd's career whilst old, inactive and disinterested with boxing.

Yup, hit the nail on the head there, Gimp!

And is that really what you saw? God you are deluded. Y'know not everything Floyd is does is pugilistic mastery, right? Oscar's started throwing hooks more than jabs, since Floyd stayed on the ropes more. That's Oscar being a dumbass, not Floyd being a genius.

You're right i saw a different fight I also saw oscar almost get dropped by a clean counter when pbf was on the ropes i think it was around round 4 or 5 it was beautiful. Oscar's knees were buckled and he immediately grabbed pbf after. I also saw oscar being ineffective when pbf was against the ropes landing nothing of note while expending tons of stamina and the crowd and announcers going wild.

It was not one of his hardest fights those were pbf-maidana 1 pbf-jlc 1 and pbf-cotto and pbf-augustus because pbf said it was. A crooked judge turned in a horrible bought and paid for scorecard which gave the illusion to novices and haters alike that the fight was close, it wasn't.

Better versions of both, hard to call but since ODLH proved himself against the best of his times (win or lose) I say he finds enough guts for the SD. Floyd the better fighter in theory but ultimately left us guessing as to his ceiling

Despite the fanboys crowing, everyone on planet earth saw a close fight between a pre-"first retirement" Floyd and a past-it Oscar. So Floyd is absolutely in trouble.

However, part of the reason Oscar lost the fight they did have was because he was an idiot and stopped jabbing (Floyd did nothing to take it away and lol at anyone stupid enough to think that). If de la Hoya was that dumb when he was an older and (supposedly) craftier veteran, why wouldn't he forget to do that as a young hothead?

Bearing that in mind, I honestly can't decide.
