Norton looks very good here. Lateral movement, a jab to occupy Frazier, and even a nice uppercut when he got backed up to the ropes. I disagree with people who think he'd simply fold when fighting Frazier, they forget he was 6'3 and had long arms it wouldn't be a piece of cake for Frazier to get inside. Frazier was doing good too with his weaving and bobbing with nonstop pressure. He was such a bull with all that snorting and aggression.
What I love about this video though it's only sparring and very short is how effortlessly Frazier slipped and parried most of Nortons punches. A great example of his ability to pressure his opponents yet, was relatively defensively sound when considering how aggressive he fought.
Ali was 6'3 and had long arms too and Frazier could cut the distance and worked inside, nearly everyone was taller and longer than Frazier, it was irrelevant.
Me neither, thank you for the footage. I think they're pulling their punches and Norton is moving far more than he ordinarily would. In fact I think Norton is trying to imitate Ali to prepare Frazier for Ali here. The fact it's an exhibition may point to that. I wonder if some harder gym wars may have conditioned Norton better against punchers.
Good point, I was thinking the same in regards to Norton's usage of the jab and his movement around the ring. Certainly not the way he fought.
Norton looked good here but Ken simply did not absorb punishment enough in my opinion to survive a real fight w Frazier ... when studying Norton's career I was surprised to learn in the pre-Garcia loss period of his career he was floored three times .. to his credit he got up to win but his chin was never his greatest asset ..
Norton had some good power as well, I think his size and awkward style could give Frazier a lot of problems. The fights always been 50/50 for me.
