Going into round 9 the fight was very very close.

The round 3 adjustment doesn't win him the fight.

Nobody said Pernell was at his peak when they sparred but Floyd was a novice and amateur turning pro sparring a legend and he benefited from it. You don’t hear him boasting about kicking Pernell arse or anything untoward.

I have an extensive video library collection of fights and I enjoy watching the old timers. One of my pet issues is how a lot of modern fighters don’t have developed skills like the old timers. The guys you matched up against Floyd are all great fighters. This is not based on boxrec but on watching them. I did not pick Floyd to win every fight. Yes he could but if you read my analysis I am not certain he does. I picked a draw between him and Wilfredo Benitez as they would be facing a carbon copy of each other. I think he is more skillful than Pryor but I am not sure anybody at 140 can beat Pryor in history head to head that is how highly I rate him. I think I picked Floyd by split decision but I make it clear I am sure. With Pryor having more talent is not enough. To be honest I don’t know for a fact that Sugar Ray Leonard would have beaten Pryor but what I do know for a fact is Pryor believed he would have beat Leonard or anybody.
