Look at who Hearns lost to. Look closely. Floyd was too small to outbox him and he didn’t have the size, strength or power to outfight him. Good look in finding the video of where Floyd kicked Oscar’s arse.
It wasn’t, was a close fight. 7-5 type but I could see why some might score the other for Oscar. I noticed with a floyd fans that every round where Floyd isn’t visibly hurt or clearly dominated, the round is automatically given to him. It may be his style, sharpshooter clean punches but scoring is subjective. Is 1 clean jab better than 5 partially blocked body shots for example? Floyd has never been on the bad receiving end of a controversial decision. If he were, he could have 3 losses on his record now. That’s some of the benefits of literally fighting in your backyard. The only time they tried to stiff him was that Canelo card but even then, 2 judges were t down.
This is actually a good post and I agree for the most part. Still disagree about the floyd Oscar fight, I think a prime Oscar is one of the worst style matchups for Floyd, and Floyd only loses because he is the smaller guy and he can’t use his reach advantage. Which is why he struggled like hell with a shot version of Oscar.
Yes and pbf is a stylistic nightmare for oscar who's a boxer puncher an outboxer. He's not going to outbox a superior boxer in pbf. Not to mention we already saw him get outboxed.
If Floyd was a stylistic nightmare for Oscar, and still lost 4 rounds to a nearly shot version, it should say something about Floyd. Not Oscar.
Nonsense! You can't name 5 rounds oscar won in that fight.Pbf won that fight clearly going away. The first half of the fight was close after that pbf took over and showed his class. It was a clear ud win.
Oscar isn't trash pbf fought cautious early against a bigger man at a weight he had never fought at before. You have to take that into consideration. Even still how is losing 4 rounds especially early bad? Only with pbf is wining a fight 8-4 not seen as a clear win hilarious with these double standards. How many other fighters beat oscar 8-4? Btw he was not shot in that fight stop! He was shot and drained against pac.
I don't know of anyone save die-hard Oscar de la Hoya fans (like Oscar de la Hoya) insist that Floyd's win wasn't clear. Everyone (else) just said it was close...which is true, if you had it 7-5, and not quite if you had it 8-4. And having a close(ish) fight with a fighter who is closer to being shot than not when you are at your prime is always going to raise questions, specifically the 'what would have happened 'x' number of years ago'? Again, I'm personally not sure that a younger ODLH does any better against Floyd because he tended to be his own worst enemy vs. opponents he couldn't just get out of there. But to suggest that Floyd does it 'even easier' when it wasn't THAT easy in the actual fight they had borders closer to 'fanatic' than 'fan'.
Right now I'm drunk. But hopefully I'll come back to this with a realistic impression of who I think I would favour over Floyd at 140. De La Hoya is on the list ill let you know who else makes the cut.
Better you do it when you are not drunk because De La Hoya being on the list is evidence you are pissed.
I wasn’t referring to Oscar. My point was in reference to your point regarding people picking fighters over Floyd despite them not being as good as what he was. We all know that Floyd was better than Hopkins, and possibly Hearns too, on a P4P basis. It doesn’t mean he’d have beaten them.
Hearns is a stylistic nightmare for pbf and was one of the boxers i picked to outbox him. Pbf would be beat up by hopkins at 160 at 154 imo hopkins would be drained so pbf could beat him there.
You claiming that Floyd would have beaten Bernard Hopkins, is clear evidence that you’ve had Walter White’s blue meth.
