Didn't Hearn offer him half a mill to fight Miller, which he turned down.

Sounds like he's been given plenty of opportunities to cashout.

He can declare it you know, although I doubt the flight was direct into the US, could have put in a bank account in Europe. I'd have taken some written proof of who paid him it so there was some trail. It's his own fault for not getting it up front in an escrow tbh.

WBA should just order an AJ fight. Perfect lockdown fight with no crowd in Hearn’s back garden. Oquendo gets his pay off, AJ has a keep busy fight that’s nothing more than a sparring session with a retired veteran.

First thing is that I hope Oquendo gets his fight. IMO this comes down to the WBA for allowing a World Title Fight to take place in Chechnya.

Second thing is ... Manuel Charr's boxrec picture has him with precisely groomed facial hair. Just my opinion , but if someone is going to grow a beard they should do it , not carefully trim it daily to maintain fine defined lines. It's a bit weird. Nothing against Manuel Charr otherwise, but I'd be happy for Oquendo to fight and beat him just because of this over-groomed beard thing.

It has become some sort of a joke, and yes, WBA are a main part of why this all went south so badly.
First of all by having all these various "world titles" driven by nothing but greed. If you're greedy, then at least still make some sense, with national, continental area, continental and inter-continental belts and keep them somewhat "important" like they used to be.
Second, by not having to make things up to Chagaev by giving him a belt after they baltantly stole the actual WBA world from him to please Don King (that guy must be in possession of some damning material).
Third, by agreeing the initial fight to take place, and under that circumstances.
Fourth, by constantly stalling and trying to cover up their clear as day s__t. They could easily reacted earlier when Chag's team didn't respond and make a different fight.
Fifth, by not ordering another fight involving Fres immidiately after Briggs (finally) got busted. Pretty sure they could find someone in their laughable top15.
Sixt, by not making the exact same mistake after Charr got busted.

Now we have some guy my age, who hasn't fought for 6 years and should't have been in the initial fight, still in line for some sort of titleshot. Which with any luck happens within a year, but don't hold your breath.

On the downside we have to deal with 500 posts from brits that AJ is the goat after knocking out big Fres.

I wish there was a way big Fres could get his pay day and we could still be seeing annual threads pop up about him being a mandatory in 2040.

You're correct on the escrow and getting money up front for sure. I was just laughing at the visual of accepting a bag of cash from some Chechen goon in the airport.
