    That had no relevance.

By beating people bigger than him, it means we have to remove the notion of someone winning by default because they are bigger than him.

We have to look into the skills of the opponent and the stylistic clash to determine a winner.

Take today for instance, would Jarell Miller be a favourite over Fury despite having a huge weight advantage?

At some point we have to dismiss the idea of too big and think about how the fight plays out stylistically, imo.

Shut up dude, with your ***** man watching crap you along with so many other posters are always talking about bone structure and being more naturally muscular like it matters? If that was the case Abe Simon with his huge bones and natural beef should have destroyed the dainty framed Joe Louis.

I don't know the reach of Vingo or Shkor tbh.

But I know Marciano had the ability to get inside and knock them out.

As the skill of the opponent increases, the likelihood of Marciano doing the same decreases, but at what point do we find that level?

Nobody genuinely elite ever needed to decision him.

I don't see any compelling evidence that Bruno was better than guys like Murray or Sheppard.

Right now, I'd say a number 3 ATG cruiser beats a number 65 heavyweight (according to my silly rankings!).
As boxers get larger, Marciano becomes lower, for me.
    But who knows?

Ok, so on your logic, when we rate the best HW of all time, it goes something, like this 1/ Ali 2/ Louis /3 Dempsey 4/ Bruno 5/ Marciano, etc, really !!!

I don't know how you could justify having Bruno as high as 65!

Just on the face of it, I'd say Marciano would lose. But Marciano beat three or four people that in my opinion he had no business beating, and in fact, I may have bet on the other guy fairly confidently. I'd be living in a cardboard box today, if I'd done so.

My best guess is that Rocky walks through the grinder for a few rounds until Frank empties his shallow gas tank and crumbles.

    But, it's just a guess.

I think I know how to factor in the various tangibles, and I'm aware size alone wont get the job done,
I once beat a fella six feet three and 224lbs, if he had been any good he would have killed me!

But pointing to fat, no hoper blobs like Humphrey Jackson and saying "see Rocky beat big guys"means jack ****.[Rocky beat plenty of small guys too, some appreciably smaller than himself.]
Beating good big men who were very hard hitters at top level does!
Fury is nearly a foot taller than Marciano and nearly 100pounds heavier he is big enough to fight anyone! Miller could lose 30lbs easily.Could Fury?
Fury v Marciano? Tyson would put him over his shoulder pat him on the back and wind him like you do a baby!

Maybe not, but since Marciano didn't fight either that point is irrelevant.

How many top level heavyweight punchers do you think Marciano faced?

Vingo was a string bean novice under190lbs, Schkor was a journeyman who had been kod in one rd in his last fight!
The very fact that these two have to be trotted out again and again as evidence Marciano could handle big guys tells us heaps about the depth of his resume against big guys of any ability!

And there we go "he is big enough to fight anyone"

At one time they said that about 180 pounders.

They said that about180 pounders because the very, very few big men around were limited slow oafs like Willard or circus freaks like Carnera .Would you classify todays top ten that way?
