@WW, LMW, or MW who would you favor in this match up? Could Trinidad be able to handle the skills of Rodriguez and KO him or would Rodriguez outbox Trinidad without succumbing to Trinidad's power and left hook?
LMR by a country mile imo. LMR is better than a prime Oscar AT WW, of that I've no doubt. He never campaigned as a LMW but if he had, given how evenly matched he was with Griffith I've no doubt he'd have been one of the best ever there too. I don't think he knocks Tito out, I do think he schools him and makes him look slow as ****.
Rodriguez was both better and it's a bad style matchup for Tito. Not a good combination. Rodriguez wide UD
Huge fan of Tito (and Rodriguez too) but I think Rodriguez has too much for him. It would be close because I doubt Rodriguez plays it too safe and that’s where Tito has a chance. I’m seeing something like 9-6 or a clear cut 7-5 for Rodriguez.
He beat loads of top middleweights so 154 is no issue at all. I agree with you though: I think LMR should win, but Tito has a punchers chance. LMR tough as old boots but Cokes wore him out and stopped and Nino caught him with a left hook from Hell, and Trinidad a far superior left hooker. 65-35 in LMR’s favour IMO
Very strange that Virgil Akins, Benny Briscoe and Hurricane Carter didn’t knock him out in multiple attempts.
But Tito is more athletic, more accurate and faster than them even if they may or may not have hit harder. That Italian guy ko'd Rodriguez didn't he? And Trinidad is a league above him in his punching sharpness, speed and power Also Trinidad's stamina was immense, he kept coming and coming
“That Italian guy” is a legit great fighter who landed the perfect punch out of the blue in a fight he was going to lose. Not to mention Rodriguez was borderline shot at that point after a long, hard career.
FFS ‘that Italian guy’ the Olympic gold medalist, two-weight world champion! I’m done, see you all later. Chris, see you on the book of face mate. McGrain, see you on twitter old friend.
I can't remember his name and could look him up in an instance. Looking him up doesn't make better than Trinidad. He isn't a patch on him
Tito is a great hooker, and has a chance against anyone with his power. Even if he doesn't knock you out he has a chance of at least slowing you down. But I wouldn't pick him to do it here. I don't think, correct me if I'm wrong, he has a track record of scoring come from behind knockouts and that's what he'd need here imo.
