Tyson Fury says:"I'm gonna tell you something...there hasn't been a heavyweight from any era in boxing that could tackle me...who'd beat me! Never mind Tyson...Ali...Joe Louis...Lennox Lewis...George Foreman...Joe Frazier...Ken Norton...Rocky Marciano...Floyd Patterson....even John L. Sullivan!!! Right back to the beginning! None of them could beat the "Gypsy King!! I'm too strong...too big...I've got too many different styles...I'm an adapter! They could never beat me anyway! So there you go! I'm the greatest fighter that ever lived...never mind heavyweight...the greatest fighter who ever lived...How about that?"

I’m totally fine him thinking this. He’s the active #1 heavyweight and unlike some guys like Mayweather he doesn’t feel the need to tear down others to bring himself up.

He isn't even the greatest this era (yet) but he does have a point. How many HWs are equipped to beat a 6'7½, 250+lbs beast who has one of the most awkward and arrhythmic styles ever at HW? Not many IMO. Certainly no-one below 200lbs, and less than 10 above it.

The key to being a great showman is that you have to be half of what you say. You have to be that proverbial walking contradiction, partly truth, and partly fiction.

This is our man Fury. He IS absolutely the best of this era for being the man who dethroned Kiltschko, and for taking on and beating his fellow big-three heavy while Joshua stunk it up, splitting matches with a fighter known for obesity and mediocrity.

He is also the guy who has had vast stretches of inactivity, a couple of scandals, one dodgy fight against McDermott, knockdowns against soft-touches, and some career threatening, even life-threatening bad habits. If it probably too late for him to be remembered as the best ever, but a top ten spot is well within reach if he beats Joshua. Great wins against great fighters is what it all comes down to.

Let him talk. it is very entertaining, and a part of his legend.

I love fury but at this point he's proven very little to nothing as a championship level fighter

You can understand why he would have a lot of confidence in his abilities right now.

Line up and give him a try if you think he's lying.

It is way too early to make bold statements, Tyson Fury, yet very talented and is the current WBC World Heavyweight Champion, as I have said many times before, needs to earn his stripes like the other greats have. One fight does not make you the greatest of all time, great victory over Deontay Wilder, yes very good well earned victory. But I remember not too long ago Andy Ruiz was being considered as great as the past all time greats, with his astonishing victory over Anthony Joshua, which later turned out to be a major fluke. If Tyson Fury defeats Wilder in the supposed rematch and defeats Joshua in a convincing way, then he can include himself in an all time great conversation. There is such a thing as overconfidence. I am sure that Ingemar Johannson was very sure that he could defeat Floyd Patterson on the night of June 20 1960, but it did not turn out that way at all. Only time will tell, a fighter cannot win with his mouth alone, only with his skill and his fists.

    What?

He beat Wlad easily and smashed Wilder.

What more do you want from him?

He ain't these guys...but if he beats Wilder and Joshua, I think he very well might.

    1. Ali
    2. Louis
    3. Holmes
    4. Holyfield
    5. Foreman
    6. Lewis
    7. Marciano
    8. Frazier
    9. Wlad
    10. Tyson
    11. Dempsey
    12. Johnson
    13. Liston
    14. Vitali
    15. Bowe

He really only has one big win, against Wilder. And I personally don't think he'll repeat it. I've heard Wilder is taking the rubber match very, very seriously, from people I trust. He's made it his whole life.

To put all my cards on the table, I don't think Joshua, Wilder, or Fury can be considered anywhere near top 20 ATGs. The last ATGs were Wlad and more than possibly Vitali imo.

But between the three, I certainly give Fury the most credibility. Joshua didn't beat anyone the quality of Wilder...and no, I don't count Andy as that...nope. Andy is a very good puncher, of course.

I would like to see Fury defend his title against Andy Ruiz, if he is in shape, like he was against Anthony Joshua, 1st fight.
