"He won the WBO belt on an undercard of a Prince Naseem Hamed fight in Sheffield. He fought an old, faded Chris Eubank, who was weight drained," Froch told Sky Sports. "He won the WBO title and then he defended it for 10 years against, I don't even know. I can't remember the names of the guys he fought for 10 years, but he's unbeaten in 46 fights, Hall of Famer. You can't argue with his record, but he had 10 years of mediocrity, defending that title. "Probably his best win was against an injured Kessler. Many say Jeff Lacy. Let's be honest, Jeff Lacy was a hype job. The Hopkins win was so close and so debatable, I think it was a 55-45 split in Hopkins' favour on the night by all the top Americans [media]. Very, very close. "Then he fought a totally shot to bits Roy Jones Jr. He even said himself before that in an interview that I read before that, that beating Roy Jones Jr proves nothing, because he's so finished, he's so past his best." Incorrect mind you in that Sky Box Office made Eubank's fight (vs Calzaghe) the main event that night and Hamed's fight as chief support. They put Eubank-Calzaghe on last because they felt it was a bigger attraction, being Eubank's comeback. Also is he trying to say he doesn't know who Robin Reid and Richie Woodhall were? Reid was one of his big heros, and Richie a good pal of his trainer helped him lots in his early career. A 46 year old B-Hop did a far better job on Pascal than Froch's life and death struggle, absolutely schooling him. That's embarassing. And Taylor and Ward won every minute of nine or 10 rounds won against Carl, of course. Even George Groves won every minute of seven or eight rounds straight in their first fight. Lacy, who ripped through Reid before Froch struggled with him, lost every minute of every round against Joe.
He will never be held in the same regard as joe no matter how much he biatches..don't know why he keeps going on about it tbh.
Yeah, after he'd already lost to him once as well. He's an egomaniac who comes out with nonsense to stay relevant. Calzaghe would have taken the come forward plodder to school, just like Ward did.
Apart from Froch, and his best mate, nobody really gives him a shout on beating Joe, he comes across as , bitter, twisted, and a bit of a cry baby tbh, cant seem to let it go, loves the sound of his own voice too much. Carl, you were a very good fighter, lots of heart a true warrior, just learn to let it go mate.
Froch Off you insecure twat......You’re retired so nothing you can do to knock those that achieved better in the same game, you should be praising your fellow fighters and enjoy the fact you’re employed to talk about the current ones!
One strange, insecure guy. Frank Warren, who didn't exactly end on good terms with Calzaghe, said that when he met Froch to discuss possibly signing him all Carl wanted to know was when Joe was moving up to 175. He knows himself he'd have been outclassed if they'd fought, which is the reason Calzaghe has lived free of charge in his head for 10 years.
This is one of the most nauseating topics here that keeps being brought up time and time again. It's boring. Froch has said he wants a straightener with Calzaghe who probably doesn't even care much as an undefeated champ. The only way this will not be boring is if they come face-to-face at a title fight and **** goes down on the cobbles. Maybe if Cordina ever gets a world title fight we could see Calzaghe watching ringside.
Froch hammered Robin Reid into submission. Reid, himself refused to come out for the next round amd quit on hos stool. Reid has said on record interestly than Froch was better than Calzaghe. I met Froch at a charity do before he was a world champion and he said then that Kessler fought Calzaghe with either a fractured or broken hand. This was b4 his beef with Calzaghe.
On a side note i was a huge Calzaghe and Froch fan. I am worried about Calzaghe, he looks very pale and ill in recent photos, like people get with liver or kidney problems. Whatever it is, i hope he gets better soon.
I am too moog regardless of what you think of them personally they were proper fighters.is calzaghe not well?..not heard anything about it.
