Speaking as someone who DIDN'T think a prime Oscar at 140 would necessarily beat PBF (or Money for that matter) I can see the argument. Oscar was shot for both, and he did NOTICABLY better vs one then the other. Yes yes, 'weight-drained', 'zombie', and a thousand other arguments that when used against PBF suddenly don't matter anymore (and I know Pac fans pull the same crap too so don't try and turn it around with a childish excuse).

It's also a style thing. Manny never had real trouble against left-hook fighters (see Cotto, Miguel). That's the kind of thing he eats for breakfast. PBF's more cautious style prevents damage but allows his opponent more chances to get into the fight, which Oscar took. Frankly, it's a testament to PBF's skill that he lost as few rounds as he did. Hell, look AT the Cotto fights. Miguel had a few moments in the opening rounds but was beaten within an inch of his life. Years later PBF had a competitive but ultimately victorious match-up with the man where he took no real damage. It's hardly unlikely that Manny beats someone PBF can 'more spectacularly' because of his offensive mindset.

Fair post but i disagree. Pbf doesn't let guys in a fight when they fight him they usually have career low workrates and have career low connect percentages and are schooled like they have never been in their careers and made to look amateurish.

Oscar was clearly drained against pac he was dead at the weight and was a corpse on fight night. Even roach admitted this.

Pbf fought cotto at 154 a weight he's not at his best. He still won but it wasn't a great performance. If they had fought at 147 earlier i think pbf would have had an easier time with cotto.

I have seen pac outboxed before by fighters lesser and greater than oscar. I dont think pac beating a prime oscar at 140 is as easy as people are making it seem.

Which is why I said it was a testament to how good he was. His style (especially in the later stages of his career) just invited the other guy to get back into the fight and they never could.

And? Didn't stop everyone and their mother from picking Oscar by devastation. If that's the physical state Oscar walked into the ring at, then that's what he thought would beat Pacquiao. He was wrong.

154 is hardly Cotto's best weight, either. I don't disagree with the idea that Floyd still wins, but again, the argument that what was a competitive-but-clear fight is somehow dramatically different at a lower weight where both are younger, faster, hit harder, and better is puzzling to me.

So have I. And almost as often we've seen Pac bite his gumshield and absolutely overwhelm that better boxer - who was often a two-handed fighter - with offensive genius. Why should a fellow one-armed boxer be significantly different?

Easy? God no. Oscar still has height on him, and it's not like the jab will be useless. But once Pac feels that right hand is nothing to worry about, and all he really has to do is get on the inside, look out for a left-hook he has never been especially susceptible to, and just let it rip I don't think a KO victory is all that unlikely, either.

Not if they fought in 2008 or 2009 when Cotto was at his best.

Oscar was 67 and had personal issues we all know about when they fought. Oscar looked sick for that fight. Prime Oscar destroys Pac.

He didn't have to. He totally dominated Tito. Tito had nothing that fight. Oscar loved to trade when he didnt have to. Tito didnt trade, he was totally beat from the opening bell.

I really wish I could post the pic, Olu, but I'm afraid it's far too graphic for this forum. I speak no lies I have the photo right here in front of me.
