39 more wins vs a greater number of weight classes dominated

Julio Cesar Chavez is probably my favorite fighter ever...what a ride that was!

But in all fairness, there are some mitigating circumstances here. A lot of those early wins were cab drivers, although he went on to have an amazing series of wins. Also, whereas Mayweather had some controversial victories, the first Meldrick Taylor fight really sticks in some people, and Whitaker sticks in everyone who had a fair mind.

I would just say that they are both great, and leave it at that. Would be interesting to see one more Chavez vs Mayweather fight (RIP uncle Roger!).

Floyd's. His opposition in that span was better.

Chavez 89-0 is so amazing even though he beat so many no name fighters in the early stage. But Floyd 50-0 has been the best record in boxing so far.

Give the edge to Floyd for the opposition but both are legends in their own right.

Do think JLC is slightly overrated at times though...

89-0 ! ( if you look at Chavez his record closely you will find out that he got disq in one of his early fights, was overruled later though )
