The best cruiser Qawi vs the best Ingo. Could the ex con from Rahway beat up the Swede? Could Qawi survive the Hammer of Thor?

I got Qawi. He is the far superior fighter to me.

I got Ingo Johansson. His knockouts over prime ranked heavys in Patterson and Machen are superior to any wins Dwight has. Would be a tough fight though.

Good fight. I tend to pick the shorter guy in these match ups. It's very hard to carry your power punching downwards.
Quawi was so brilliant at slipping the shot and getting close, Ingo's in real trouble here. Quawi at his best was so fast and nobody could say Johansson was fast.
Quawi's challenge is to avoid that straight as a lance right hand in the first four rounds. If he tags you, you don't tend to get a second chance with Johansson. Look at the names on his record. Cooper, London, Richardson, Machen. Not guys that went over easily.
If it goes past five, Dwight beats the plodding, predictable Johansson to bits and stops him. If Ingo lands, Quawi has no chance.
I pick Quawi on a hunch.

How do you see him coping with Ingo's right hand?

Ingo def has the better wins and I’m picking him to win via Mid rounds Ko. Qawi wouldn’t be an easy out though

No doubt Ingo could crack with the right hand but Qawi was so good defensively. Spinks had a great right hand and Qawi wasn't to bothered by it. It was Spinks combination punching that won him that fight and combination punching is not really Ingo's game. Qawi was a pretty durable guy on top of his way underated defensive prowess.

Good points. Would be a tough fight. I’d favor Ingo but it’s not impossible that Qawi good get a win

I definitely think Ingo was a damn fine fighter. I just really think highly of Qawi. The fight he put up against Holyfield leads me to believe he could handle a lot of dudes in the Cruiserweight range.

But was a 170 something pound Spinks right hand as hard as Ingo's right hand? Even though it was hard at LHW, do you think it matched Ingo's?

That’s a reasonable assessment and Holyfield vs Qawi 1 was a good fight. But just keep in mind Evander had 11 fights. And even though Ingo was on the small side of heavy when contrasted to modern standards he was STILL a heavyweight

But in modern times he'd likely have been a cruiserweight or at least started at cruiser.

yes at his normal 195-200 lbs which is what cruiserweight weigh in this century. In Qawi’ s time they were 178 to 190 ish. And Dwight wasn’t a natural cruiser anyway nor was he at his prime at that weight

Spinks right hand was plenty hard at 175 but what made it dangerous was the speed. Don't get me wrong, Ingo's was probably harder but Qawi's defense was top notch.

True Evander had only 11 pro fights but he was one of the most decorated USA amateur's that we have ever had. He was a fully mature fighter. If he wasn't, he would have been run over by Qawi.
