They were announced as SMW fights because they were over the limit. Mike never actually campaigned at SMW. They were just fights what he had when he was a MW. It’s the same with Roy. Roy was never officially a SMW until he moved up to fight Toney.
What does that even mean?? Officially a super-middleweight? This doesn't exist. They fought at super-middleweight, the fights were set at 168lb and advertised as such, you had to make 168 and 'officially' fight as a super-middleweight. Mike said he was now campaigning as a super-middle because that's where the money fights were, in Boxing News in May '92 and again in July '93.
I am doing, one day at a time. However please discuss the SMW fighters in the SMW thread and the LMW fighter in the LMW thread.
Any fight above 160 is technically a SMW fight. Mike fought Chirino above MW in May, 1992, before he fought a rematch with Toney at MW. He never had a run as a SMW. He couldn’t have said that in 1993, as he was a LHW by that point. Again, move it to the other thread. This will be my last post here, as it’s not fair to the TS.
Well I'm afraid he did say that my friend, unless you're calling McCallum a liar, on an internet boxing forum over 28 years later. I still have both the publications.
I guess it's impossible for his plans to have changed, because everything always goes to plan in this world, right? Honestly it's like talking to a bunch of imbeciles.
