Yeah, I know... and Corbett beats Tua, because he became world champ in his era, and Tua didn't in his. Jesus...

Sometimes you have to be skeptical about a contender who only beat one man ranked int eh top ten, and did that controversially.

You have to have doubts about him beating the great champions, and even the not so great ones!

There's a world of difference between the 1890s and Tua's era - even though I'm aware, you won't accept this!

The problem is that we don't know what that difference is!

Ruiz was not a contender yet when that happened.

Ruiz was 25-2 in 1996 and 24 years old he was very probably in his prime, i doubt that any version of Ruiz would have lasted 3 rounds with Tua

You're not going to claim, that the heavyweight division was even remotely as strong in the 1890s as in the 1990s... are you?

Even today I can't understand how it was possible Tua ( heavy hands but zero technique) went to decision with Lewis. I think it's a fault of Lewis who liked to handle his opponents instead of attacking and destroying them soon.

A lot of people say that if Tua came into the fight with no injury he would’ve knocked Lewis out. Like wow I can’t believe people actually believe that, Tua was just way too limited as a fighter

Don't you see the problem here?

You are making an enormous assumption, of the superiority of one era over another, based upon no evidence whatsoever!

there are reasons to think that some eras were better than others, but we ultimately don't know!

We can't even predict the outcomes of fights between fighters who shared an era!
