Debating my top ten WW list

    Not 1 fight and 1 fight only. A decade of great performances from 1970 to 1980.

    At any point during that time span he's capable of beating Napoles and Armstrong.

    Both achieved more as a WW, neither were better at their best imo.

    But he did not fight a decade at WW. You have to put in the work, at that WEIGHT, not lightweight.. What does " at their best mean? really" He went 1-1 against Ray... How do you know he doesn't quit in a 15 rounder against Napoles, Hank, or Griffith? You don't .. We disagree here big time. Again, You have to put in more work at the weight

    And Duran wasn't "at his best" at WW , it is clearly LW

    I don't think we do disagree on the face of things.

    Do you favour Napoles or Armstrong to beat the best version of Duran.

    If the answer to that is yes then we do disagree. If the answer is no, we are very much in agreement.

    I can't find you're answer but I assumed that means you think the best version of Duran does beat them.

    That's huge in my criteria, it says in the opening post I highly favour H2H rankings.

    Under different criteria I'd be saying word for word the same things you are saying.

    No I do not think the best version of Duran beats the best version of the others, Because the best version of Duran was at LW. not going 1-1 against Ray at WW. Again the others, made a career at their " best weight" as did Duran at LW. I can see your point because the Ray win was huge for Duran , but he also lost in the rematch..... What Duran did against Ray in 1 fight, is no indication, imo, he does the same to Napoles , Griffith, or Hank at their best

    Fair enough, I think Duran beats those 2 at any point from 1970-1980 as they all were a similar size, but Duran imo was better.

    I think if either of those 2 are WW champ and has to defend against Duran, they lose their belt.

    Jack Britton, Mickey Walker, Joe Walcott and Jimmy McLarnin stand out as big omissions especially given that De La Hoya and Mosley are honorable mentions.

    I think Trinidad is more worthy than De La Hoya and Mosley as is Whitaker.

    I think I would have Rodriguez in my top 10 but realize that’s a minority. Rodriguez posted a lot of great wins above 147.

    But they never seem to get any love at lightweight...probably because it’s such a historically loaded division

    Neither of them was really a natural lightweight though. I'm not sure if they could have even fought in the division if they had to weigh 135 on the day of the fight.
