When AB punches right through Bivol (who's every bit as talented as Ward minus all the hugging & mating season rutting) & sends him packing to 168 then you'll believe haters..
Beterbiev is a rough fight for a retired Ward, but Ward would give a better showing than that last sissy boy that Beterbiev destroyed mentally, and sent into retirement.
Ward from the Kova fights with unpaid off neutral judges and a ref he doesn’t fist bump with before the fight loses to Beterbiev. Most likely by a comfortable UD or late stoppage.
I remember Ward said at one point that he could come back for the right fight hinting at Beterbiev. Ward moved up in weight class to fight somebody nobody wanted to fight, except maybe Pascal. That fight is really the fight I would like to see: who really is the best?
At least he had the balls to fight him, Ward would never get in with Beterbiev. Why he not hang around for a fight or two after stopping kov from having kids ?? He carefully picked an alcoholic then ran
Multiple things. Paraphrasing some of his commentary.... "You can't stay more than a couple of seconds in front of him." "Beterbiev doesn't allow you to tie him up." "He's a lot more skilled as what people give him credit for." "To disrupt Beterbiev you have to use movement and the jab." "You don't want to get hit by Beterbiev." "He's going to be hard to beat."
Who was going to pay Ward the kind of money he was getting to continue fighting? That type of money wasn't there for a Beterbiev fight back then, and Beterbiev hadn't yet established himself as a top tier guy. Recall he made Gvodzyk his ***** well after Ward retired.
Prime Ward I think actually outpoints Beterbiev. Bivol was the Soviet I think Ward wanted the least part of(still not saying I would favor Bivol, I wouldn't)
If Beterbiev one day becomes the Undisputed World Lt. H.W. Champion then Ward will come out of his retirement and fight him.
