First of all, amateur system existed before Jeffries started to box.

Secondly, Jeffries didn't lean back and he used combination (which can be visible against Ruhlin). Do you just assume that everybody fought the same way back then?

Wilder was extremely overrated before Fury loss, but now he's usually rated extremely low here. I think that very few people rank him properly - he's very dangerous fighter and legit contender but very limited.

Well, I see Jeffries higher than most so we probably diagree a bit on that matter ;)

I think Wilder's rating (as does everyone's) solely depends on who you talk to. I'll tell you Wilder is a third rater who was lucky to win a belt and would've never made 10 title defences without the protection of the WBC. Whereas someone else will tell you he's a HW dark-horse who should be favoured to stop most guys who won't put him away quickly.

I don't see Jeffries talked about too much on here, so I don't really know what the general view of him is. I just think that it's laughable when 'historians' rate him top 10-15; above guys like Wladimir Klitschko or Tyson. I can't see it for the life of me.

I see Wilder as a top contender who is dangerous for anybody who is not durable or has questionable durability. He could be easily outboxed though and he's not the most durable man. I view him around somewhere around Shavers, better record but far worse competiton.
Well, I view him as a solid candidate for top 15, but below Tyson and Wladimir.

Yeah, pretty much how I see it. He could KO anyone, but I don't think it's particularly likely.
I think he's clearly better than Earnie. Shavers didn't have the speed, length or stamina that Wilder did.
I don't really rate his era too highly, although I do like Fitz and everything I know of Tom Sharkey makes me want to be a fan.

Bob Armstrong was a fine fighter. Ruhlin was definitely "of class".

Sorry George, but your completely wrong here. Wilder would be too big and fast for Jeffries. The gap between boxing in the beginning of the 20th century and now is huge.

Highly doubtful. Wilder had his hands full with non punchers who can't fight. My prediction if he ever fights a top 10 opponent is he's knocked out again barring Mike Hunter, who can't punch and is on the small side.
