    They would through accumulated damage.

However, Shavers's chin is too weak. Cooney was too limited due to only being a one handed hitter. Lyle has serious power but he has other limitations. None of these guys have the durability to stand up to Tyson.

The guys who have the power to stop Tyson are two handed power hitters like Foreman or Liston or iron chinned incredible boxers who can wear him down like Holyfield and Ali.

You have to hit Tyson many times over many rounds and in combinations.

What about Galento, Roper, Nova, Pat Valentino and Harry Matthews?

I looked at this strictly stylistically. I was not looking for someone with legendary status, but strictly stylistically. Who was strong enough to push the bully back? Who would slug with the bully? Who had a rock jaw that could handle the bombs? Who did not suffer much from cuts? The answer kept coming up as Oscar Bonavena.

There's plenty of vallidity in this assertion...though he was a champion not contender, this is why I see someone like Joe Louis overwhelming Mike. He was awfully good at that kind of thing.

I really do think that Bonavena vs prime Tyson would end up as an uncompetitive massacre.

interesting and intriguing answer my friend. I wouldn't favor Bonavena but he could make things interesting if he grits his teeth, refuses to give up, and takes Tyson into deeper waters.

Harry Wills would have a shot, though I would favour Tyson. I'm not sure Wills was durable enough to beat Tyson.

    I'll say Brian London then!
He'd have gone thru Tyson like a knife thru butter.. Really.
