And the love of a country, and even though I doubt he would win it, the fact that he is being endorsed to be president says something.

Literally, Pac is a Hero to so many people.

Can you imagine if Floyd was revered the same way by the U.S? He would literally be bigger than Ali.

As Merchant said, Pac is a combination of Ali, Elvis and Bruce Lee. In the grand scheme of things, Pac has achieved way way more.

I'm trying to objective as someone that's Filipino American. I get both sides that yes Pacquiao does at times feel discredited because he isn't an American, hell not even just non-American, but also Asian. He's pretty much the only Asian boxer that most casuals can actually think of. On the other hand like other say he has a massive following in the Philippines, and I doubt there's a single Filipino anywhere in the world above a certain age who hasn't at least heard of him. And not just Filipinos but I'm sure most Asian boxing fans (SEA or East Asians hell even South Asians) feel some sort of kinship to him, I know I sort of did to SSR when he was coming up and definitely to Inoue.

In terms of stannery he definitely has the Eminem effect. His stans can be godawful barely literate third worlders (just like Eminem stans). Mayweather is the Jay z of boxing, both were super hated made a **** load of money and can't stop talking about how great they are and once they said with great confidence how great they so many times people just start buying it (just like Lil Wayne whenever he confidently proclaimed himself the best rapper alive). Also nothing against third worlders before I get called some racist/classist it was more a funny observation on the diehard stans both have in youtube comments that make indefensible comments such as Pacquiao being able to beat GGG at 160 or well just look at any Eminem video.

And because Pacquiao wasn't in the class of Leonard, anyway. In fact, no-one from the last few decades is. Jones comes closest, and even then he wasn't as good.

Also for whatever it's worth Pacquiao career is far more suited to a Hollywood movie or television series. Born in abject poverty and was poor even by third world standards and started boxing relatively late but somehow found he had a knack for it. His first title win was some anime tier "I'm down on the cards but here's my asspull powerup that ktfod out of the antagonist". His rise in America and his wars with the Mexican greats. Get kod by his arch rival and losing to Floyd in a stinker then he comes back on some goku **** and becomes the oldest WW champion at 40. Now we're at the stage where we find out what he has left and if he can take out the Crawfords and Spences or will he have an Ashita no Joe ending.

Floyd's legacy though is nothing to scoff at perfect record and arguably the greatest defensive boxer of all time. I feel like him focusing so much on his undefeated record though undermines his other accomplishments (and why it's so funny when people point to Menayothin's record cause it legit triggers Floyd fans too).

Hopkins is best buddies with Oscar and part owner of Golden Boy so the reasons for Hopkins to say anything good about Floyd ever since 2012 is zero. Before that? Hopkins called him the best since Leonard. So. OK.

I had a brief chat with a Filipino dude many years ago and I asked him if he'd heard of Manny. He replied ''Yeah!'' and I could see from the expression on his face that he was pleasantly surprised I had. This was probably at most a year after Manny had announced himself on the world stage by trouncing MAB. I informed him that I was a big fan of MAB and that Manny has got to a beast after doing what he did to a great fighter like that. But hand on heart, I have never met a single person who has heard of Floyd and I ask pretty much everyone I meet if they have.

Ironically Hopkins' whole compliment doesn't much apply to the past decade-and-change for Pac despite his commercial boom in that time.

Bro Pac feasts on slick fighters. He destroyed Lebwaba with ease. He almost knocked out Chris Algieri even though he was old and like a midget compared to Chris.

Pac's kryptonite is boxer-punchers with a power right hand.

Pac and Golden Boy had a bad fallout. And Hopkins has talked **** about Pac and accused him of being in PEDs in the past, so there goes your bias theory.

Those were exhibitions after he retired for multi millions of dollars. Excellent pension.

Thank you for furthering my point that Hopkins has said compliments and insults in both directions about both fighters over the years!

Your argument was that Hopkins picked Pac due to a dissolved business relationship with Floyd. Thank you for confirming that there is no bias on B-Hop's end, though.
