Boxing is an interesting sport as all shapes and sizes can participate. But what about the fighters who carry excess weight, but are still good enough for a career?

By fat I mean excess weight around the stomach and hips, not overall weight, rather a very high body fat percentage.

Galento, Butterbean, Mathis sr qualify. Today "big baby" J. Miller.

This guy. Tyson Fury, out of shape.

    From his BoxRec profile:

In 1918, the New York Sun wrote: "Meehan is so fat that blows make no impression upon him and he is so awkward that even the cleverest of opponents cannot figure out a way to reach him effectively. Despite the ludicrous appearance he makes in the ring, Meehan really knows a great deal about the game of fisticuffs and he is far from being the easy mark he looks."

Tubbs would be my first choice. Buster Mathis Sr. was a decent fat heavy, too.

Not at the level of some here, but Jimmy Abbott could have been something a bit more with better conditioning and timing (not fighting in Apartheid South Africa)

    Abbott springs to mind.

But better than him was imho old Mike Schutte, who had absolute wars with Gerrie Coetzee and probably ruined his boxing career somewhat after Coetzee broke both his hands on him.

I downloaded the fight, but sadly when I tried to find it on the interwebz, it seems to be gone. They really moered each other.
