If Mike was that good he'd have a string of unbeaten defences at MW and mentioned with the greats. Instead he contrived to be just good enough to give James Toney a hard time and to lose to Kalambay.

I think that he beats most at MW and that he'll give anybody a hard fight. I have a hard time seeing him beating the two end bosses in Canelo and Golovkin, though.

So what if he was bigger?

    He wasn’t as good.

Of course. But then Floyd wasn’t a MW and he never fought there.

    Why have you mentioned it?

No way never. Mike McCallum was a well schooled technician who would be to much for Canelo and GGG. Doubt Canelo would win even with Vegas judges lol.

    Mike was that good.

He split 2 fights with a peak Kalambay who was a very good and skilful fighter himself.

He stopped a peak version of Micheal Watson.

He beat a young Steve Collins.

He beat a peak version of Herol Graham.

Just good enough to give Toney a hard fight? Many people thought that he beat Toney. And he was 35. And Toney was at his best. It wasn’t the versions who went through the motions against Tiberi and Williams. He showed up in the best shape possible and fought to his full capabilities, due to the amount of respect that he had for Mike.

Winning and losing to Sumbu Kalambay and almost beating Toney at 35 and 36, doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a great fighter.

There’s not a doubt in my mind that Mike couldn’t have replicated GG’s exact timeline.

Would GG have remained undefeated for as long had he have faced Mike’s competition?

Canelo was easily beaten by Floyd and struggled with Lara and Trout. How do we know how he’d have fared against Graham, Kalambay and Watson etc?

Mike fought and beat better fighters. He fought guys who were at their best.

I don’t think either of them would have come close to beating the versions of Toney who Mike fought.

GG’s best win is against Danny Jacobs. (unless you think he won the first Canelo fight)

Canelo’s best win is against a faded GG.

Mike was more skilful than both of them.

There’s no logical reason why he couldn’t have beaten them both.

McCallum was an exceptional fighter and a fight between him and a prime GGG would be very sexy. Prime McCallum would paddle Ginger's ass though.

And let's just clear something up here because there really shouldn't be any confusion about it whatsoever. GGG's best win is Clenelo and everyone knows it, including the fiends, frauds, and freaks. And that was obviously a past prime GGG too.

You're a MM fan, and that's ok. I can see why you think what you do, so what you're saying isn't a ludicrous opinion.

Golovkin never had an opportunity to fight the best when he was on the way up, because nobody wanted a part of him. The list of people that swerved him is as long as my arm. Sturm, Sylvester, Martinez ... all ran like hell. Cotto dodged him and Canelo dropped a belt rather than fight him. Froch talked up a storm, as did Ward, but when his camp sent an offer ... crickets. Floyd said Golovkin was easy work - but he could have had the fight at 154 had he wanted it ... crickets. That tells me a lot.

I'm not going to argue too much about this either way, no matter who you think would win. But I don't think anyone beats a prime Canelo or GGG 'like a drum'. Mayweather schooled Canelo when he was 23. An exceptional performcne. He didn't beat him like a drum though, and Canelo has matured as a fighter since then.

No he's not. The Bodysnatcher would kill Floyd at 160.

    Not could.

    WOULD.

    KILL.

I remember Floyd calling out Sergio Martinez. Said they could do a catchweight. Then when Sergio put Williams in a coma, crickets.
