I don't think they're better conditioned, take the number 1 P4P fighter today, Canelo, could you imagine him going 15 hard rounds?

Foreman simply won due to a lucky punch. Otherwise he got beat by all the top HW's he faced.
And you are just pointing out a few men. There can always be a few exceptions, but that's not the norm.
As long as money is being pumped into a sport, as long as just as many people take up and are interested in a sport, and as long as the rules remain the same, it grows/evolves.
Only in the past decade or so, some divisions have regressed/stalled a bit simply because there isn't so much interest in the sport anymore.

Canelo has never geared his training for 15 rounds, but if he did, he'd have no problem doing it.
He has better nutrition and training methods at his disposal.

But it wasn't a lucky punch. Foreman went in there to knock him out and that's exactly what he did.

Are you sure that you've seen real Gans fight and not some random actors doing rehearsal?

Are you under the mistaken impression Gans did a shoulder roll? Or not?

I boxed competitively in the 80's and 90's. Up until the Covid outbreak I was still training at a local gym and I will tell you that these guys today are better conditioned for the most part than we were. The pacing of a 12 fight is different from the pace of a 15 round fight. Hell, I have seen 3 round amauter fights were guys are winging 100 punches a round and are dead after round three. Nutrition and training techniques have improved. That does not mean that fighters are necessarily better though. For example, I don't believe for a second that this generation of middleweights are better fighters than the guys in 60's like Benton, Giardello, Tiger and Griffith.

Are you under the mistaken impression that nobody before 1960s did that?

Well can you show anyone who did? It seems you don't know what a shoulder roll is or what combination punching is.

Gans did it. Burley too. Schmeling used similar technique. I mean, it's not quantum mechanics...

I have to disagree where ballet is concerned!

I think it's pretty obvious, that dancers were better 50-60 years ago. I mean, do we have a Nureyev today? No!

Training to become a top ballet dancer takes years and is extremely hard. You have to start at a very young age - and kids today are more interested in video games than putting in the hard work to excel at ballet. The dedication is simply not there anymore!

Also, all the great instructors from yesteryear have now disappeared - and with them irreplaceable knowledge. Which is why ballet is now, sadly, at an all-time low.
