Both have exceptionally high work rates and never leave a second of the fight empty of effort and endeavour.

It would be a tough fight and probably an ugly one from a spectators point of view because their styles would clash rather than mesh.

I’d very slightly favour McGuigan because he had a greater skill set, a wider variety of punch combinations and hit harder than Warrington. McGuigan also beat Eusebio Pedroza who was one of the most dominant and long serving Champions in the sport and was unbeaten when he faced McGuigan who actually battered him.

McGuigan on points but I wouldn’t rule out a late stoppage

    Well said.

I think Josh still has some questions to answer. Two great wins in Selby and Frampton, but neither looked suited to the weight and were past their peak. Kid Galahad then gave him a scare, the judging could easily have gone the other way if the fight had been in Sheffield rather than Leeds....

Pedroza was not unbeaten when he fought McGuigan.

He was unbeaten for 7 years.

McGuigan is a class above Warrington.
Warrington is tough and game but McGuigan simply is better in every department, he operated at a higher level and beat better men.
McGuigan stops him in 7 or 8 rounds.
Barry doesn’t get favoured to win many head to heads on here but he’s too good for Josh Warrington.

Which is what I meant to say, unbeaten as World Champion rather than unbeaten as a professional.
He was the longest reigning World Champion of any weight division at the time of his defeat to McGuigan

This is not correct as Pedroza had already lost 3 fights in his career before McGuigan beat him. I know most would pick McGuigan to beat Warrington which is more than possible but I would say Warrington is an even better fighter than he looks. Personally I thought he lost to Barry from Sheffield.

I am not a McGuigan fan but those posts above are disrespectful. McGuigan did beat an older Pedroza who was a great fighter not as good as Salvador Sanchez or Azumah Nelson but then again who is. McGuigan also beat really good fighters like Bernard Taylor and Juan Laporte and a few others. Yes he shamefully ducked Azumah Nelson because he and his management were petrified but he was a very good who potentially could have been great. If Warrington Unified the title there can be no doubts. As a honorary Yorkshire man I am proud of him. I like Barry from Sheffield to.
