    How much wrestling is allowed?

As much as you wish to allow. Do we always assume the guys from yesteryear are better wrestlers?

Not neccessarily, Fitzsimmons for example wasn't as good in clinches as some of the top fighters of this era.

It's reasonable to expect from them to be better though, as this was much bigger part of their styles than modern boxers.

Fitz kod him twice, Ortiz who is a good counterpuncher, would have no difficulty landing on the wide open Sharkey.

No, but I assume the one that held his own with the wrestling champion is the better wrestler.

Head to head, Ortiz would destroy Fitz. Please. There isn't the 160-170 fighter born who would stand up to him over 12 rounds unless that fighter was running circles in a 50 foot ring. Let's cut the bullsh*t.

Yes he is,he was much better than Jeffries imo but that didnt stop him getting beat.Too much size and weight to concede, you can get away with that against the Dunkhorst's of the fistic world, but not against class big men who can box and punch. Sharkey was crude , with a porous defence.

I'm fairly confident that James Toney could.
