For every Pac or Mayweather who completely fulfills their potential, there are thousands of guys who **** it up somehow.

And the difference between being a good guy and evil one can sometimes just come down to a problem with impulse control (chemical, trauma, congenital, whatever).

I'm accused of being a Mayweather fan but have never defended his domestic abuse.

Man, don't apologize. Like I said, threads go where they go for a reason. I should be pleased a thread of mine has more than ten replies, really.

Because hes a U.S. citizen and it doesnt make him any better than the young men who went befor or after him. Do you really think he would have been sent to the infantry?? He would have got the same gig that guys like Louis and Robinson got. Nobody wants to go to war no matter what color or religion you are Mark

I'm not defending what Monzon did...you're not balanced here at all. You think Monzon was worse than guys like James Butler...

That isn't true. Many people wanted to fight in WWII. Many people wanted not to fight in Vietnam, and they were correct in hindsight. There's no good reason why Ali should've gone over and been a government supplied puppet show for the troops when he did not support the war.

That’s a helluva defense: the innocent 15-year-old that he kidnapped and took with him when he rammed his car into a concrete barricade at full speed isn’t paralyzed.

Well let’s give Ike a medal.

    SMH.

Well I guess if everyone thought that way we wouldnt have anyone to defend our country now would we. No one likes war but unfortunately some generations get stuck with with that the sad facts of life. When your country calls serve or get out.

Another option is to stay, remain patriotic, and not serve.

Do you suggest we pretend he paralyzed a kid?

I thought your reading comprehension was better than to think that means I'm defending him.

My grandfather volunteered to fight in World War II, but when he got his call up for Korea, he found a way to get out of it.

He obviously thought that the former was his fight, and the latter wasn't!

My grandfather fought in WWII but did not volunteer for Korea. His brother ended up killed in that war.

Ok now tell me this...... Why were the other attempted **** cases were throw n out when brought up No evidence to support them. Same as the kidnapping charges & he was released. It was then they dragged up the others. Ike was in jail in Vegas for almost 14 months under , as you say
forced heavy sedation, receiving no treatment but being badgered to cop a plea with the promise of being back in boxing in 6 months. I visited him twice poor guy was like a zombie its no wonder he had mental problems
Like I said before Ike was no angel but neither was he the evil; monster he was made out to be
His biggest mistake ironically was, when he was fed to David Tua he turned around & beat him in a hell of a fight. When I was singing his praises & telling everyone he was going to beat Tua I was ridiculed because no one outside of Dallas had really heard of him. Afterwards it was " Where have they been hiding him he's awesome"
I believe once they did examine him he was diagnosed as being Bi Polar & once on medication he became a different person. He actually earned a couple of college degrees while inside.
If they'd examined him & discovered the Bi Polar cause things could have been so different
