    Duran embarrassed himself in victory and in defeat. You can't cry fowl when you acted the way he did leading up to and immediately after their first fight. I say this as a huge Duran fan

    This sums it up good for me. It boils down to professionalism. I'm one of the biggest Duran fans here but when your job your only job is being a professional fighter you have to behave with self discipline yr round and set limitations for yourself that you wont cross and we all know that Didnt happen with Duran especially after he left LW.

    If Leonard DOESN'T take advantage of the immediate rematch clause, watch the haters come out then too...….."Oh, he never fought him a second time blah blah blah."

    It's tiresome. Duran wasn't taking his ^%$# seriously and had his career derailed because of his thoughtlessness. His fault, and his only.

    Who is here saying he didn't? Enough with the strawman's. Would it have been more impressive and honorable if Leonard defeated a full strength Duran? Yes or no?

    Lol what? Where did I say anyone disagreed? Of course it would be more impressive. Just like it would have been more impressive for duran if leondard lost fighting his own fight instead of getting lured into a war in the first matchup. It doesn't matter much to me though because two men knew they were going to throw down with another great fighter so all credit goes to the winner no asterisks no caveats

    No. Its Durans problem. He agreed to the fight and it was his responsibility to get in shape. He lacked the discipline to get in shape and then quit like a spoiled child.

    SRL tricked Duran into fighting so soon. Duran's machismo wouldn't let him turn the fight down. Duran was partying like a Roman with his eyes on fire; and SRL knew it.

    Great move by Leonard. Stupid move by Duran.

    I brought it up since tinman is saying that Leonard made a cowardly move by fighting an out of shape Durán, so if that were the case then the third fight gave Durán another chance to come in shape and redeem himself, which again makes the whole premise of this thread wrong since Leonard made no cowardly moves
