I have a question. Has Wilder even beaten a top 10 contender under the age of 36? Let me know who. If you need me to help, I can answer this question or you. Personally I'll take a hall of fame fighter in any era over what Wilder has done provided they are very small boxer types without power.
Just a year ago, Wilder stopped his mandatory WBC challenger Dominic Breazeale, who was 33 at the time, in the first round. Did you forget already? It's not like it happened 120 years ago and you have to rely on newspaper clippings, like most of Jeffries' fights. This content is protected
Among Jeffries's best pelts... Corbett 1 - 34 years old Corbett 2 - 37 years old Fitz 1 - 37 years old Fitz 2 39 years old Peter Jackson - 37 years old
He could make good money fighting exhibitions. He simply didn't need the title any more. After the second Jeffries fight, he was offered a bout with Martin, and he said that he could make more money from exhibitions. I could provide sources showing that he took a tough bargaining position.
Wrong on a few ages ( Corbett was 33 in fine shape, Fitz 36 ) , but using this data, Wilder's best win is ( Ortiz ) even older than anyone on Jeffries list. His second best win was 36 year old. I guess that sorts of spoils the point you were trying to make.
Doubblechin, To clarify when I talk about top ten ranked opponents I am referring to RIng Magazine ranked people. Alphabet rankings are often a joke. Everyone here would agree RIng Magazine Rankings are better than WBA, WBC, and IBF. Wilder has never beaten an actively ranked Ring Magazine ranked opponent in the top 10 under the age of 36. His quality of wins are poor Breazeale was a joke. He came in fat and slow. I value Box Rec rankings over Alphabets. Box Rec has Brezeale at #22, and he has not fought since losing Wilder. You can read about it.
If you're bragging about "Sugar" Jim Jeffries beating a 36-year-old 167-pounder more than 120 years ago, I think that spoils the point you were trying to make. The people have spoken.
Jeffries never fought anyone ranked by Ring. We went through this last week. And Breazeale was rated by Ring at the start of 2018. Whether he was currently rated by them or he was rated by them months earlier, really matters little. It's not like he was lesser of a fighter at the start of 2018 than he was at the start of 2019. It's not like he'd lost since then. People just bumped him out of the magazine's ratings. This discussion has dried on the vine.
38 in 1900 is 60 today. Don't be willfully ignorant. Athletes on average have much longer careers. The fact that you are trying to prop up these tiny, old fighters as significant wins in anything but their own time is ridiculous. Ortiz would storm that era and rip it a new ahole.
Double So let's use Box Rec rankings, if we can to achieve middle ground. This means Wilder did beat one person ranked at Box Rec in the top ten in Ortiz who is 10th, however he was old as dirt off his PED's. The other Wilder opponents are currently ranked at Box Rec are: Molina #88 Breazeale #22 Washington #19 ( Shocked ) Arreola #60 Szpilka # 29 Duhaupas #43 That's it. Peeling back the onion, all of these fighters have multiple losses or on their resume and were safe picks when Wilder fced them save Ortiz, which Wilder was closed to being stopped in and IMO would have been if Ortiz was 4 years younger. For a guy with 44 fights and several title matches, the level of opposition if glaringly low. This isn't my data, its 3rd party.
Jesus. So you went to Boxrec. Looked for fighters Wilder fought five years ago. And posted their current ratings? LOL. Where is Wlad currently rated? Where is Bob Fitszimmons currently rated in today's rankings? LOL This thread is over. It was over last week. People think Wilder beats Jeffries. Suck it up and move on. You desperately want to bash Wilder's opponents. His opponents are fine. Over the past three years, he's faced better heavyweight competition than any other active heavyweight. And he could be the LINEAL WORLD CHAMP at the end of this year. So, get ready to handle that, as well.
