They have over £1000 already so they should be able to replace at least one of the belts. Some interesting names on the donor list including Brian Rose and Sunny Edwards.
About 10 yr ago I was walking to the pub with a few pals, bit of a sesh, when a car pulled up an a lad got out ran over an chinned my mate, got back in to the car an drove off. I said to one of the lads, he looked the spit of Frankie Gavin he did( I was a few houses back walking couldn't get a good view)....Any ways it was Gavin .......Tbh, Gavin was 100% right when I found out the story. Got off lightly considering
Agreed. Saw an interview with him at a BKB event (which I think he was considering) and he looked in a bad way. Being an Ex-Olympian and now working on the railway is terrible, tbh. Shame.
He looked past a breakdown imo, like it's normal life for him to be down now...sad.. shouldn't be entertaining bkb, that would be tragic, Olympics to not far off street brawling for dough in comparison is shocking
Agreed. For me, being an Olympian would trump anything that the pro game offers. Sad times. Could have been matched better though.
Frankie has been playing the starring role in his own sob story for most of his life. His problems are all self inflicted but he will blame anything and anyone but himself. He has had excellent people around him, Tom Cheney, Jon Pegg, Malcolm Melvin and he's let them all down. Too busy playing " Funtime Frankie " in town on a weekend. Even at his lowest ebb, the Lejaragga fight in Bilbao, good guys like Paul Mann and Brian Robb stepped up to help him. I hope that in 10 years I read an article about how he's a happy man with his kids grown and doing well, his job on the railway and training Amateur Boxers.
