Between Lacey 2006 and Kessler 2007 where the latter fight resulted in Joe recognising the end was near.

No ATG has a prime that lasts for 12 months. Come on now...

I think what Jurgen is saying is that those 2 fights were Joe at his best, defying injuries, critics and the odds to take the 0's of two World Champions.

So he was a his best for 12 months out of a 10 year+ career? Interesting...

Those two fights were arguably his best performances, he was absolutely brilliant in both. If Sven Ottke had the balls to come away from Germany and not have the judges on his side another 0 of a World Champion would have been added to Calzaghes collection. It was a strange period for that division and although he didn't always help himself he was the best in it.

True, but I'd put that down as his best run, not prime.

How about if Joe had the balls to go to the states earlier?

    Absolutely

Cannot believe one of our greatest ever hall of fame fighters is being constantly knocked.

Fought his entire career with badly damaged hands with bones frequently broken.

The Lacey win was an absolute clinic and one of the best ever performances seen in a British Ring.

As the famous Chris Eubanko once said - 'Boxthing is a brutal bithness'

Too many marks against his résumé and lack of desire to leave Wales.

Should have fought at least 5-8 world class fighters throughout the 00's, never mind the 90's.

Brook stepping up to GGG, and actually going toe to toe, was a bigger display of heart, desire and bottle than anything that Joe did.

The Welsh wizard never even reached his prime that's the thing and a testament to how great the man was.Didnt help that he was mismanaged by a slimy seabass.

Cannot imagine how good he could have been without those hand injuries.

Comparing Calzaghe v Brook is no different to comparing a Ferrari and a Skoda.

Calzaghe was an elite World Champion who raised his game when facing elite World Champions where Brook was found badly lacking when stepping in with elite fighters.

You will be telling me Tony Dosh PPV has a cracking CV next mate when we know it is full of puddings and one old inactive robot.

He was the Bee's Knees around 96-98. His hands were holding up pretty well then and he could bang pretty hard with both hands. I think Calzaghe of the Delaney fight up until and including Eubank was him at his absolute physical peak. He was pretty awesome back then.

This. When his hands went quite early in his career he never entered a fight 100% again. Changed his punch technique to accommodate and still reigned for years
