I kinda like Lyle to outlast Sanders and wear him down for a stoppage. Ron had a pretty good chin and decent power. He traded on even terms with prime versions of Shavers and Foreman, beating one of them and giving the other hell.
Sanders has the more interesting package of skills with the fast hands, power, and southpaw stance, but he was a fat golfer (RIP), whereas Lyle was one hard-boiled guy. I like them both and decline to pick. Rest in peace to both of them. I am not above a few cracks at Sniper's expense, but the sport was better off for having both guys. Lyle overcame a hard past, and Corrie died a hero, so I am sure they are both in the good place now.
Sanders was one of my favorite fighters, but Lyle's style can be a nightmare for him, I imagine a fight similar to Rahman's. Lyle tko 5
It was because Ali threw a stiff jab to get him to put up a high guard. Lyle made a huge mistake blocking his own eye sight and couldn't see that Ali was sneaking a delayed right hand through the tiny gap and landed flush on the chin. The fact he didn't see it coming+the pin point accuracy all but guaranteed he would get badly rocked.
I understand what happened but feel that Lyle completely froze and choked. He took much bigger shots to beat Shavers and give Foreman hell. Even in his loss to Quarry he took many more bombs.
1-shots you don't see coming can hurt more than a fully leverage shot with weight behind it that you do see coming. Your whole body freezes involuntarily and it feels like you're being electrocuted. 2-Ali hits harder than people give him credit for.
Yea if Ali really committed to his shots he would’ve had a much higher ko%, very similar to Ray Leonard IMO
