I always felt like Michael Spinks knew what he was doing. He had the view of Leon's career and the quick decline. I think brother was a great teacher and motivator of what not to do. That can be just as powerful because he had a front row seat to that circus.

I think hes ok but when Butch Lewis died who Spinks trusted like a brother actually ripped him off for millions and millions of dollars unfortunately

You make a great point there, absolutely. Also he was probably too busy looking after Leon to go astray himself LOL

I do remember that and the court case. I never did see how that case finished but know Michael is still doing well. Be interesting to see what transpired.

He was in the process of suing Lewis' estate to recover his money. It seems Lewis controlled Spinks' millions and was just giving Spinks a monthly allowance, which stopped as soon as Lewis died. I haven't been able to find any information on how the case was settled.

Yes me too. I saw him a few times when I trained at Fraziers but never spoke to him there. When they unveiled the Frazier statue here in Phila I got a chance to speak to him for a moment and get our pic taken. Very humble and soft spoken. A really nice man.

From what I recall it was another one of those cases where the boxer had his manager manage everything. Lewis held his money, so to speak; paying Michael's expenses, month-to-month.

When Lewis died, whatever arrangement he and Michael had ceased to be carried forward - and that's where it all got a bit sticky. A deal was eventually struck with the Lewis estate and it's beneficiaries. However, the nature of the deal was not made public, to the best of my knowledge.

He's great from all accounts. He reads extremely well in his interviews.

    Michael Spinks

Don't agree on Leonard, who made bad comebacks a got in to drugs.

Hagler's was a bitter retirement a d he also got in to substances.

Can just imagine playing Winky Wright at golf. I'm on the edge of the green going for birdie and he is in the rough. Of course, he ends up finding his way to 2ft from the hole while I botch 2 putts. Similar pattern for the next 17 holes. Winky does buy me dinner at least.
