to be honest I don’t want to upset anyone here I know Ali has a big following but I rate Chamberlain as the greatest athlete of all time in any sport he may well have beaten Ali his strength and stamina are off the charts not to mention the obvious physical advantages
Yeah he may have been a great basketball player. But in boxing I'll take the professional boxer. This is like those Mariusz Pudzianowski moments where people look at a guy in another discipline and say omg he's so strong, he will kill people at X. And then they fight fat boy Sylvia and get their mudhole stomped in.
I can definitely relate to what you are saying however according to what I’ve read online it was Ali who refused to sign the fight contract after being told by a large number of basketball players that he wouldn’t be able to beat Wilt
I have not gone into the story of who did or did not sign and the reasons for that. Just saying that usually the professional at a discipline wins a contest against a novice, even if the novice has considerable physical advantages.
In any other instance I would fully agree but there is always an exception to any rule and I believe I have found it here
Like I said, some agree with you, but you will find that most do not. It would have been a better fight than the BS Ali did with the Japanese wrestler, I'll give you that.
Ali was Ali, but people underestimate how much of a handful athletic freaks are, and how quickly they pick things up. Imagine Lebron James being a Boxer. A guy that big yet that agile and powerful would be a NIGHTMARE, period. RJJ'S was an athletic phenom. Imagine a HW version.
